Yeah, it's hard to dodge. If you right click along its trajectory you might be able to create a shield that will block it from hitting you, though.

What's this about right-clicking?

This is the first game I'm talking about here.  You have jump and punch.  That's it.  The rest you control with your keyboard.  Mouse doesn't do a thing.  It's like an oldschool NES game (two buttons, simple layouts, fun all around)

Oh, the first game. Now it all makes sense. As far as I know, you just have to beat that first phase really fast before that happens. Second phase isn't too hard -- just get him to fire at the targets and he gets hit. Go smart, hit the triggers, hit the thing in the center as normal, go ape and hit the button before he can hit you.

There are also maybe a couple undodgeable attacks on the final phase, too, especially on the harder difficulties.
