I very, very much doubt that the next quarterly update of the electronic version of the OED will have suddenly declared that the word 'commission' has completely changed its meaning overnight.

--- Quote ---Also, like I said, we are not a huge convention.

--- Quote ---NoBrandCon is Wisconsin's premiere and largest anime, gaming, video gaming, general nerdery convention

Wisconsin is bigger than my whole country. Make up your mind boy.

--- Quote ---To KharBevNor, sorry if my format bothers you, it is just the style I am used to. I prefer being somewhat formal when talking to people and I bring that over to forums. I simply do not get why it bothers some people when I format myself this way.
--- End quote ---

Because it makes you sound like Baron Douchebag of Douchebagia, Most Sacred Knight of the Utter Prick. That is the basic reason.

öde:

--- Quote from: Fargo on 19 May 2008, 18:50 ---The convention runs on the kindness and altruism of volunteers and that is what I am looking for is people to volunteer their talent if they have the time and desire, people seem to think I am asking for top shelf work for no compensation.
--- End quote ---

Ask people that are going to the convention or otherwise want to be involved with it, I'm sure they'd love to help. This topic, however, is like running into a room of strangers and asking them to help you with a difficult and time consuming job that they have no interest in for free.

Fargo:
Dictionaries rarely pick up new words or definitions quickly and I have been seeing that use of commission since I began going to conventions. Artists at conventions have been using it for at least five years from my experience. Also, to öde, the submissions to the comic do not have to be professionally done and ready for Marvel or Dark Horse. They can be something you tossed off for fun and would like others to read. As for the other work, yeah, a little I guess. But that is what the whole convention is. People working for free. Our webmaster is unpaid, our con director, secretary, treasurer, staff heads; unpaid. I was just looking for others willing to put in the effor tto run a con. Khar, Wisconsin may be large in land mass, our convention only got 1100 congoers in 2008. So while Wisconsin is larger than some European countries with a population of 5.5 million, that does not translate into huge congoer numbers.

Signed,

Fargo

Not to egg the argument or anything, but the only reason he -can- call it Wisconsin's biggest Con is because it is Wisconsin's ONLY con...
(Or, the only one people actually talk about, around these parts, anyway).

Teh Geek Lord:
Reading this entertains me for some reason, Thanks guys!
