Living as close to T-Burg as I do I'd be retarded not to go to Grassroots (which rocks by the way).
If you're going to be anywhere near Central New York in July you really should check it out. Other than that I may end up at Musefest at the end of August. I don't know though. Last year it overlapped the start of college (though it was just orientation on those days which was boring and not really informative... hmm... choices) so we'll have to see on that one still.

But yeah grassroots rocks, where else are you going to play frisbee, shirtless, in the rain, in the mud, with no shoes, with an old hippy, your sister and a few of your friends?

There is a festival in San Francisco in August this year called Outside Lands. Once they get single-day passes out I think I will try and get one of those to go see Radiohead again.

I'm really kinda pissed the lineup for All Points West sucks so much. But there is a pretty good chance I'll get to go to Chicago again for the Pitchfork festival! Last year was fun!

I'll look at colleges too, because Northwestern seems really cool (in 2 ways, since its quite cold up there).

Going with him, as well as Pecoae and a bunch of other people.

Yeah, All Points West is awful this year. Too bad. It's so close to me but there's no way I'm paying a lot for a lineup like that. Since most other festivals are too far/expensive for me to make I'm just waiting for the Siren line-up. To be honest, I'm not a big festival fan anyway so I'll probably stick to a bunch of smaller shows (already have Efterklang, Silver Mt. Zion, Islands and Battles lined up before the end of May plus any other bands that happen to be playing at my school i.e. The Death Set, Cex, No Age and No Age plus a bunch more). I'm happier in much smaller settings anyway.

Not expensive in the least, but a pretty good line-up just the same. I'm only familiar with a couple of the acts playing but I'm a fan of the ones I know. Can anyone vouch for some of the artists on the list?

And it's in Iowa! Who would've guessed that..

Yeah, I know the Flaming Lips. I was wondering about the rest of them. I know Andrew Bird, The Roots, The Flaming Lips, Jakob Dylan, Girl Talk, and Poison Control Center. It's the rest I'm curious about.

I'm ignoring the Great Escape Festival, because apparently it's all about Vampire Shitting Weekend and The Fratellis (and I'm working while it's on anyway) and now saving all my excitement for End Of The Road festival in Dorset in September...

The line up:
British Sea Power/Calexico/Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin/Mountain Goats/Darren & Jack(hefner)/Two Gallants/Laura Marling/Conor Oberst/Low/Mercury Rev and a whole heap of awesome. Plus, it's a non-sponsorship based festival, things like food and beer are decent quality and reasonably priced, and it's in the woods. I actually can't wait.

Nearly a month, does this count as a necro?

Anyway, I'm going up to Rockness music festival this weekend. I was wondering, just on the off chance if anyone else is going to it?

I am a big fan of the Music Festivals, though the ones I go to are more the hippie / Jam Band fests rather than Lolapalooza or Bonnaroo.

This year, I went to Summercamp in Chillicothe Illinois - the lineup included Moe, Flaming Lips, Umphrey's McGee, George Clinton, Avett Brothers, Clutch, Madahoochi, Hot Buttered Rum, Cornmeal...  and many, many more.

I'll also be going to Wakarusa which starts tomorrow, Lawrence Kansas.  Lineup can be found here, I'm really excited to see Zappa Plays Zappa again, and Cake for the first time.

July 4th I am likely going to Rothbury, in Michigan, which has about the most awesom lineup I've ever seen, as it includes several of the "Jam Band" favorites - Trey Anastasio, Phil Lesh, Primus, STS9, Keller Williams, Yonder Mountain String Band - plus some mainstream artists like Modest Mouse, Snoop Dogg, DMB, 311, etc.

I am also a big fan of some of the local midwest festivals, from the Schwagstocks to Bela Sol and Black Diamond Music Festival and the events at Bearcats Amphitheatre in Lesterville, MO.

I'm pretty glad for the necro cause now I get to ask you, do you live in New York?

(also I'm definitely going to APW and probably Siren if it's free so..)

I'm off to the Roskilde Festival in a week or so, Never been to a Festival before so should be interesting.

Although I'm possibly thinking the 1000+ mile road trip just to get there might not have been a wise idea, but oh well  :-P

If I can get off work, I'll probably go to way out west, they have some nice bands.
Although I'm not sure it's worth the money (travelling + ticket + lost working hours)

I am thinking about hitting up Lollapalooza, probably. I could totally do this festival thing. Hell, it worked out pretty well for SXSW.

Ok lollapalooza isn't happening. Instead of spending 300 bucks that weekend I will be earning $200 for house-sitting for my parents. I forgot that I agreed to do it a while ago, and my parents are trying to make it better by paying me.

Bah.

I sadly almost finished my festival season already for 2008.

So far I went to Rock am Ring - fuck yeah RATM (and also a few other bands which mostly pale in comparison to RATM). Justice was sweet and so was Fall of Troy. Also Metallica and The Prodigy.
And 2 weeks later I went to a festival called Hurricane. Didn't see as many bands as usually but got more campsite action in return. In the end I saw Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Digitalism, The Weakerthans, Flogging Molly and a few others who I always remember when looking at the line-up but I won't inflate this post just for namedropping.

Up next is a free 1-day festival called Rheinkultur (Anti-Flag, Ben Folds, Blackmail, Futureheads, couple others).

These three used to be the staples of my festival season but since Rock am Ring is just crumbling under 100k+ visitors, I'll probably cut it from the calendar for 2009. Hurricane and Rheinkultur are absolute musts, though.

EDIT: Anyone ever been to the Free Funk Festival? It's on the 5th and 6th of July in Venlo, Netherlands. Could be nice to check out.

And it's on my list of things to do in life to go to Burning Man and Glastonbury once.
