besides, shad is drug free and healthy and he'll be doing his thing forever. Black Lips could easily self-destruct at any time. didn't one of their guitar players or somebody already die?

What really, really bugs me is that, it's more of a financial dilemma than anything else. I just don't have the cash to go see both.

On one hand, I've been meaning to see The Black Lips for a long time, and I need a punk-like show full of the crazies.

On the other hand, Shad. It's freacking Shad. I remember watching his Polaris Performance and feeling goosebumps. That's how good he is.

I think I'll have to sell one of my Godspeed You! Black Emperor tickets to get financial aid. =/

Black Lips is genuinely one of the best shows I have ever been to.

besides, shad is drug free and healthy and he'll be doing his thing forever

Like that's a bad thing. The more Shad the better.

I think that's what he was implying. He was saying you can see Shad later and it'll still be kick ass, whereas the black lips might drink themselves into a coma in the next few years.

Well, problem solved.
A friend of mine is going to pay for both our tickets for Shad and I'll pay him back later.
I am going to buy my Black Lips ticket with the money from that Godspeed You! Black Emperor ticket that I have.
I still don't have anyone to go with, but whatever, it's The Black Lips.

MF DOOM might be playing on Friday night.

I really love DOOM but I'm pretty conflicted, most reviews I've read seem to suggest he'll perform for about twenty minutes if he bothers to actually turn up at all.

WHY ARE ENGLISH FESTIVAL SO WANK THIS YEAR

Not only do we have this travesty, V Festival is terrible (as it always is, but its a 30 minute drive from my house...) and fuckin' McFly are headlining the Summer Ball at my University. On top of that, Hevy festival looks pretty naff but its only £89 for a weekend so I'm thinking fuck it lets go to a metal sausage fest and get really drunk because nothing else seems good that still has tickets available.

Rant.

That festival seems...interesting.

Saw the Mountain Goats on Friday and it was incredible. John Darnielle's solo acoustic set in the middle of show blew my mind and they covered "Plain" by Silkworm, Silkworm

That's awesome.

Lupercal, you need to start looking at non-UK festivals. Primavera, if you buy tickets early enough, is only 130 euros (well this year anyway, price has definitely gone up from last year), and has a kick ass lineup. It's also in the middle of Barcelona, so... bonus.

Electric Picnic in Ireland is usually also pretty good, but really expensive. There's a lot of festivals cropping up in the Balkans that get quite electronic. Poland has some really good things going on.

I'm going to see LCD Soundsystem tomorrow night with my little sister in the first of their funeral week shows.  Don't really know what to expect, except that it should be lots of fun.  Also, I seem to be one of the only people ever that actually likes Terminal 5 in NYC.

I tried to buy tickets to see Death Cab at the Bowery in June but 20 seconds after the tickets went on sale they were sold out.  I didn't really care that much since I'm not a huge fan but it would have been a good time since a group of my friends were going to go (which never happens) AND it would have been on the 21st birthday of one of my friends.  Oh well.

Oh my god lcd soundsystem was amazing.  I didn't even care that I had to leave early (about 2 hours into their 3 hour set).  James did a duet with Reggie Watts.  The whole night was unbelievable.  If any of you guys can get into the next three nights I highly suggest it (I'm gonna try to get in Wednesday night).

Just because both bands have dudes harmonizing doesn't mean they're anything alike. I haven't heard the newest FF but if it's anything like their earlier stuff than I'm not sure if it makes any sense to compare the two bands.

So, Radio Radio two days ago was really, really great. You just gotta love their acadian rap style.

And Shad, yesterday, was amazing. I got high-fived by him 3 times, and he even freestyled over Kanye West's Devil In a New Dress. Moshpit during "Yaa I Get It". He tried freestyling in french for a second.
He had a band caled Keys 'N Krates opening for him. They did was they called 'live remixing', but it didn't really sound good or look good. Shame.

Next up is either Toro Y Moi or The Black Lips. I'm really just debating if I should go see Toro y Moi or not. I have no one to go with, and I'm not sure if he sounds good live or not. Bought my ticket for The Black Lips though, so that's a shoo-in.
