Just got my ticket to see Merzbow and Richard Pinhas at La Maison Française (part of the French Embassy in DC).

Fuck. Yes.

Leaving in an hour or so to head into NYC to see the Black Keys.  Bringing an extra pair of pants because I expect to cream the first pair.

If Electric Wizard have somehow crept out of their cave and gone on tour, you MUST go see them. Such are the rules.

Well you're probably going to be stoned off your gourd just from breathing the air in the venue so it doesn't really matter what their stage presence is like so long as they can recreate sufficient gnarly grooves to get lost in, no?

Definately go see Electric Wizard. Do you know if they're touring anywhere in the U.S. as well?

Also, on Saturday there's this: http://www.ponderosastomp.com/lincoln-center_detroit-breakdown_2010.php

It's free! Which is awesome 'cause I never thought I'd be able to see Death live. Anyone else going?

Electric Wizard only seem to be playing festivals for now. As for shows, I'm stoked to see Cynic/Intronaut/Dysrhythmia, Boris/Russian Circles, and Autolux/This Will Destroy You, this coming month. I highly recommend the latter show, because TWDY's new material is completely different from anything they've ever done, and it just blew my mind. Plus, Autolux have finally come out after like 6 years.

There are only 4 dates that I know of: London, Paris, Cologne and Deventer (Netherlands).

I guess I'll follow the rules, then, if I can get the day off.

Also, at the same place I saw them I just now noticed, "Menomena also Suckers and Tu Fawning" in mid October.

1) Frenzal Rhomb are doing shows again?
2) By "like that" do you mean things where the novelty wore off round about 1998?

The rest of that tour, including my city, might not catch them now. They had their van and a ton of equipment destroyed (not sure how), but they're apparently trying to complete most of the tour anyway. Pretty cool of them, really...after something like that I'd be way too pissed to deal with touring. Poor guys.

I have Neko Case and Band of Horses playing in my hometown this fall and one band I want to go see that requires some plotting. The latter band is Bottomless Pit. The closest place they play is Ohio, which is something like a 11 hour drive. I have money enough to burn to fly, and there are direct flights from my town to Chicago, so that's probably the likeliest candidate.

Question about flying and Bottomless Pit's tour dates. The place they're playing, The Hideout, doesn't have the band announced on The Hideout's calendar yet. Should I wait until the band does show up on their calendar, or is almost certain that the band will play there and I should book a flight to Chicago before it gets hella expensive?

Excited about?

This one:

Why?  It's my kid's CD release party/free gig and we're turning it into a slightly belated surprise party for her  (She's 16 today).   Should be fun.  Shes' got no idea about the party (she thinks she's just playing a free gig) or that Bryan Beller is showing up with his incredibly talented wife Kira Small to do a surprise R&B set.

I saw Boris last night. Easily one of the best shows I've been to - sound-wise probably the best - especially since they closed with Untitled off of Smile. They droned out on the end of it, and every minute of it was great, just because of how incredible their tone is. Having Michio on that tour, I think, also made it way better than it originally would have been.

Sufjan Stevens tickets went on sale at 10AM today... and sold out at 10:07. I managed to grab one by some miracle, but I really would've liked two. The Asthmatic Kitty server crashed immediately at 10:00, it was hilarious. Anyway I am so fucking pumped for this show.

Fuck. They played in Tronno on Monday night and for some perverse reason I did not go. I completely forgot that Michio was with them as well.

I attended the Toronto date, actually. I'm glad it was at Lee's and not some place like The Opera House - they definitely would have fucked it up. Well, I guess you should try and at least make it to the Melvins show now, you owe it to yourself, haha.
