What's especially funny about this is that this isn't even the last of the species overall, just the last ones living in the UK.  The species is native to New Zealand.

I especially love this part:

Now as you know, being gay is not a natural genetic condition. This shows that these poor ducks either faced some severe psychological trauma or perhaps a chemical imbalance from toxic river pollution.

Do ducks really have that complex a psyche?  Also, the toxic river pollution theory is a little suspect seeing as how they live in a bird sanctuary.

I have just seen in the library, a university library with a lot of adult books in it about intellegent things, a book called "The human brain colouring book"

I just thought it was rather odd.

A lot of med students use coloring books for anatomy studying (like this).  My mom has always said those sorts of things were really useful in nursing school: better than just looking at a diagram, and more accurate than trying to draw your own.

I actually bought one of those (or a similar one) for my brother-in-law, when he started nursing school, many, many moons ago.

He liked it, and also thought that it was helpful.

He is now a psychiatric nurse.  His joke is that the only difference between the keepers and the kept is that the keepers have the keys.

Promega is a company that sells molecular biology enzymes and other products. To make up for the fact that Qiagen has such a large portion of the DNA mini-prep market they've created this character named Vlad, the vampire research assistant. I just got this comic with the latest product I ordered from them:

Oh Vlad, you silly bitch, always being defeated by UV light!
