By extension (yes, I know I'm guilty of a logical fallacy here, but I'm trying to be comforting :-) ) that means there are more good people in the world than bad.

I live in Florida and man everyone's houses in Plant City are like that.
We actually call that town Plant Shitty.

I cried when I watched the video, and a little during the reading. What an amazing story. And yeah dude, Plant City is nasty. So are a lot of places in Florida.

really breaks my heart. i know it kind of kills the nice, hopeful parts of the story to introduce facts and all that but there are quite a few other cases of children who have been similarily neglected and even though they were a bit older before they were rescued, the one thing they all have in common is that they were all severely stunted for their entire lives after. maybe a few small things learned here and there but absolutely no success with learning how to speak or understanding specific social cues or developing precise motor skills or anything, and most also end up dying pretty young from health complications. this unfortunately doesn't leave me very hopeful for the girl in this story either. something about those first few years of life are really crucial. it's wonderful that she now has great foster parents who are looking after her but mostly i left this feeling sort of sick and angry. that kind of child abuse is absolutely unforgiveable.

Reading things like this make me so sick. I can not even imagine what type of person does this to a child and is fucking dumb enough to not see the problem. I'm so glad she got taken away from Michelle, but I can't fucking believe the woman didn't end up in jail. It's fucking awful.
