Nothing wrong with electronica in general. Daft Punk are DANCE Electronica though, try some of the other 30,000 subgenres.
Ha ha. Ha. Daft Punk is far from 'dance'. They are pure house music, at least in their early days and some of Discovery. I don't know where the hell they went for Human After All, LOL.
But seriously folks, I am a huge DP fan (listening to Beta Wax at the moment) and I find it hard to hate most of their stuff (which is why I'm cringing at all of the hater posts! :p). If you're a DP newbie then you're allowed to hate HAA and Alive 2007 just because it is the most repetitive and grinding DP music, but it's still good in it's own way. The remixes of HAA kick ass (see: Erol Alkan's Horrorhouse Dub (Brainwasher), Vitalic Remix (Technologic)) and some Alive 2007 tracks are pure joy (see: Too Long/Steam Machine, Face to Face/Short Circuit, the big finale thing). But for casual listeners I can see how they could come off as bad.
That said, my least favorite DP songs are as follows:
Veridis Quo - It's not a TERRIBLE song, but it's just slow and boring and filler music for Discovery.
The Brainwasher - There is no rhythm and the Dalek going "I am braaaain waaaashherrr" gets incredibly annoying.
all the remixes from Daft Club (Chord Memory, Mothership Reconnection, Forget About the World) - They pale in comparison to some of DP's other remixes (see: Alive 2007).
Rollin' and Scratchin' - It's not terrible, but the screeching scratch synth thingy at the end drives me up a wall.
Rock and Roll - See above! It's like the end of R+S but extended over 7 minutes.
Oh, and I *used* to hate Technologic, Robot Rock etc. but they're fun to listen to in small doses. They also make great remix material.
I also used to hate Too Long and Teachers, but they are now like my favorite DP songs. Take that how you may.
Now back into the obscurity of the shadows...
