Oh Brother Where Art Thou/Cold Mountain--instant classics.

24 Hour Party People--if you weren't there, this will make you wish you were.

Groove--I could have danced all night long.

Jackie Brown/Pulp Fiction/the Kill Bills--Tarantino knows what's good, and he knows what's cool, and he knows what's cool because it's good.

Go--soundtrack makes this movie.

Trainspotting--no comment necessary

Shaft/Superfly/Black Caesar--made the whole movie soundtrack thing popular. I mean, Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield and James Brown...? studio execs took note...that was too much money to ignore.

The Devil's Rejects & the Halloween remake

I'm a pretty big sucker for classic rock, and I don't know if Rob Zombie has any input in the track selection - but whoever made those soundtracks has great taste.

Ok thought this would be kinda fun......
So I guess what I'm looking for in this thread is your favorite movie based on it's musical soundtrack in correlation to scenes .
You could also go for favorite director(based on overall compilation of their musical choice in all of their films ect...)

I find that Tarantino often makes excellent choices of music relating to the scenes of his films.
and I am not just saying this because he is Quentin Tarantino...promise.

Ok this is slightly amazing.  As I waited for this page to load, I thought Kill Bill/Pulp Fiction.  I was even listening to the Bang Bang song earlier (the one that starts off I was 5 and he was 6)
Anyways, my second would be Garden State, just because that movie and soundtrack mean alot to me.  I've had experiences with those songs.

I've lost all faith in this forum already. How has no one said Star Wars? The siginature darth vader/dark side tune is amazing.

Dude go listen to Gustav Holst's Planets suite. Mars, in particular.

It's a tie between There Will Be Blood and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Both of them were impressive, incredible pieces of work.

Hedwig and The Angry Inch is great.  Also, the music in Slumdog Millionaire is awesome.

a lot of my would-be choices have been mentioned already,  so to add new titles to the list I submit:

Beavis and Butthead Do America
The Departed
The score from "In the Mood for Love"
Cry Baby

Yes Man.

Premise is shit, but half Eels, half Zooey Deschanel and a They Might Be Giants song thrown in? Yes please.

Having seen Amelie recently, I'm adding that one.  Damn good.  Yann Tiersen is pretty handy with a piano/accordion.

Trainspotting is a good answer, but The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is the only right one. Ennino Morricone is a fucking genius.

I was fairly impressed with the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack. The 70s one, not the new one. Candyman is fantastic.
