Your secret geeky desire
Spluff:
Don't you have a solid state amp, so putting a tube pedal through it would be near pointless?
Patrick:
The idea is that I'd only be using the amp's clean channel (which, with the tube emulation turned off, sends a perfectly unaltered signal [excepting EQ] through the effects loop circuitry). And I'm getting the Tri-Mode pedal (bypass/od1/od2), meaning that I can have a super clean tube channel and a tube crunch channel.
Besides, I plan on selling that amp and using the money to get a Fender Blues Deluxe. I have used such an amp before and holy fuck, what an experience. When I combine it all, I'll be able to have a clean channel, an overdrive channel, and a FUCK YOU channel.
Spluff:
I've found that putting a tube amp into a solid state - even on clean - loses a lot of the effect, because the tube sound can't really be reproduced through a signal, it needs to be produced by pushing the tubes. But hey, Blues Deluxe means problem solved (more than that, those things are fantastic).
