Looking for new music

Caspian:
Watchtower for epic prog thrash, too.

look out! Ninjas!:
Merzbrow.

Start wherever, really.

Spluff:
I'd recommend these bands to everybody:

Kyuss
Agalloch
Owls
Jeff Beck (Get Blow by Blow)

--- Quote from: Caspian on 12 Jan 2009, 22:19 ---Most of their acoustic and metal parts are put together fairly randomly, for unnecessarily long amounts of time. The band- and their fans, who are up there with Tool fanboys in terms of annoyance- seem to think that Opeth are onto something truly amazing, when all they've done is make songs 3 times longer then they should be. So yes, nothing you haven't heard before.

That sure is an opinion you've got there.

the_pied_piper:
Sorry, but Glasvegas top of listens for this week?! Worst Scottish band of last year.

Two suggestions: Dananananaykroyd for punky indie music or Frightened Rabbit for a more Folk style.

Man, that is one difficult spelling. Took me 3 attempts to get it right.

EDIT: Dananananaykroyd is now in mediaf!re thread.

echofly:
Edge of Sanity - Listened to the whole of Crimson; I thought it was really good, but I think I have to be in the mood to have that patience to listen to more like that.
Cynic - I listened to Evolutionary Sleeper and really liked it. I'm downloading both albums now. I now wish I had gone to see Opeth + Cynic instead of Slipknot, especially since we missed Bodom anyway.
Dananananaykroyd - sounds promising and playing in Cambridge!
Agalloch - I do like the instrumentation, may look into them more, but once again, it depends on my patience.
Owls - nice suggestion.
None of the other bands particularly interested me, but they weren't bad. Thanks for the suggestions.
