Harun:
If you like Opeth, you will absolutely love Ikuinen Kaamos (clicky). Some of their riffs sound like they came from a better version of Blackwater Park. Their newest EP is also downloadable free from their site (linked on their myspace page above)

Cloudkicker is my new current obsession. Imagine if Mogwai, Gojira, and Meshuggah had a threesome. This is what it would sound like. All of their stuff is free too and available from their site also linked from their myspace above).

Spluff:
Better than Opeth?

I am clicking that so hard

--- Quote from: De_El on 10 Jan 2009, 18:59 ---Nirvana is a good springboard for getting into lots of different bands as Kurt Cobain was very vocal about his influences and favorite bands. Try out stuff like The Pixies, Beat Happening, Dinosaur Jr., Shonen Knife, The Vaselines, and you can branch out from there.

And Meat Puppets. From there you can move fairly safely onto Uncle Tupelo, I'd say...

echofly:
I'll be sure to check out these bands and post back. I've listened to some Pixies and heard Doolittle; it's ok-good.
Metal is ok, but I don't want a torrent of it, and I think I have enough rock, but I'll check out these few.
Right now I'd like to listen to more alternative/experimental/maybe indie? stuff.
Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Thrillho:
Sonic Youth.
