I will take offense, thank you very much.  As my former teacher pointed out, when the most contact you get with a language comes in the form of a genocidal dictator shouting hate speech into a microphone on the History Channel, you don't get the most accurate impression of the language.  Mussolini did not make Italian sound pretty, either.  And the "hacking-up-phlegm" noises are not high German.  High German has "ch" sounds more like French.
