Surgoshan:
Let's face it. Some people need to be hit in the face with a chair.

Yeah . . . because sarcastic ribbing of friends and beating girlfriends are completely analogous situations.
I can see why the characters are friends with her now. The snide jokes go both ways and she doesn't beat Marten anymore. When she crosses the line, she apologizes. Before "The Talk," the Marten-beatings were her way of dealing with her feelings for him that she felt she couldn't act upon. He was lame to put up with it. But he liked her and his social life improved significantly since he met her. And he has no spine. It was unhealthy for both of them. In real life it would justify some kind of action, but this is a comic and used in a comedic way. I'm pretty sure there would never be a punching intern in real life, either.
What was the last seriously objectionable thing that she did? Tell Wil to ask Penelope about Hemingway? She got her comeuppance for that. Dora threatened the college girl with a broadsword but no one's all "why are people friends with Dora?" People are friends with Dora because she's loyal and aside from Marten-irrationality, she's fun. The sword-incident would be a big deal in real life, but it's a comic. I'd imagine the same logic applies with Faye's snarkiness.

I...hope to God you are being sarcastic.
