Watchmen prescreening *SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER*

PapaFrita:
It sounds alright, but I may just wait for the director's cut anyway. I'd rather see the movie in its entirety, even if it's balls long.

ADRIAN WOODHOUSE:
i am a huge fan of the comic, but i have to admit that i thought the music (simon and garfunkel and nena) didn't fit to the mood of the movie/the scene it played. this kind of contrast  worked in american psycho, but it didn't work in watchmen.

ackblom12:
Honestly, I thought the movie was pretty damn good a few things that might have made it better, but a lot of that i expect to be in the "Holy shit this is long" edition.

Lines:
The movie itself is about 2.5 hours long, so the directors cut is going to be looooooooooooooooooooooong.

Okay, here are my thoughts on the movie:

I thought the opening fight/murder scene was pretty good. Opening credits were good, but they sure did reveal an awful lot, though perhaps not for people who hadn't read the book?

The actors who played the Comedian, Dan and Rorschach were pretty damn spot on. However, if you actor has to stand swaybacked to give the appearance of a gut, maybe you should ask him to put on some weight for the role or just forget about the gut entirely.

I still maintain that they guy who played Veidt looked nothing like he was supposed to, but he did have a rather commanding screen presence. Sort of wish he'd dropped the accent, though. Also, I wish they'd just left the cat out. With no previous mention or sight of her, she just looked out of place (and rather poorly animated).

Few of the characters had the voice/mannerisms I always pictured. That's not really a complaint, because I can't say it wasn't effective, but it was distracting for me a bit.

Dan seeing Rorschach get killed strangely robbed the scene of some of its poignancy. It made more sense that man who wasn't of any consequence to anyone without his mask off dies without much consequence pretty much alone and unmasked.

The two Bernies and the doctor deserved more screen time. They were such great supporting characters in the book that I felt a bit cheated.

The fighting was mostly kind of lame. He did make them fairly "super".

Nothing to do with the movie, but man an audience can really interfere with my movie watching experience. They were laughing at all the wrong parts and cheering at odd moments.

Bleh.
