hey jeph why are birds so important to you?

Norton Quintessential:

--- Quote from: Alex C on 20 Mar 2009, 10:49 ---It's because birds is magic.

They can fly 'n' shit.

--- End quote ---

HEAVIER THAN AIR FLIGHT? How deliciously absurd!

AngelofShadows:

--- Quote from: NeverQuiteGoth on 21 Mar 2009, 03:21 ---Have you not heard?

The bird is the word.

Fuck you and fuck that song.

Jeph does not need a reason to like birds. They are awesome.

Except Seagulls. They are not awesome, except when you get them to fight over food covered in hot sauce for your enjoyment. "that's right! Fight! Fight for my amusement and leftover nachos! Fight to the death I say!"

Alex C:

--- Quote from: Surgoshan on 20 Mar 2009, 21:40 ---Jeph has said somewhere that he wonders if his local tattoo guy says, "OMG, it's the bird dude" when he (Jeph) shows up for another tattoo.

I suspect that birds, any and all, have a significance to Jeph that it would be rude to ask about.

It's a pain in the ass to link directly because it's long since been relegated to DON'T BE STUPID, but here's the post that makes me think Jeph would say you guys worry too much about this shit. Click the link for context.

"People worry too much about tattoos. When I look at mine I don't see some DEEP PERSONAL SIGNIFICANCE or AMAZING ARTWORK THAT WILL LAST FOR ALL ETERNITY, I just see some happy little birds who make me feel good."

But here's the thing: even that sentiment is very personal. What can be more unique and individual than having a pure, uncomplicated affinity for something? For example, I like the feel of clay. I don't like making things with clay; I don't have anything I wish to say with it nor do I really have any particular interest in art. But I could probably goof around with the stuff for the rest of my life and be extremely happy while doing so. I don't want to use the stuff to communicate and it doesn't represent my connection to anything. I just like it and that's good enough. It's very zen to just accept that you enjoy something and leave it at that. Maybe it's like when Raven said that she thinks about puppies in the morning because they're fuzzy.

sofiabailote:

--- Quote from: Siibillam-Law on 20 Mar 2009, 15:42 ---The most common reason for association with birds is the need for freedom, like you can just fly away. It's a bit of a cliche, but that's kind of the point

Maybe that's it?

--- End quote ---

OK, but if we consider Jeph's birds to be the ever-static yelling bird and a bunch of turkeys (who can't fly either), that has to be some huge Freudian slip, right??

10 dollars says jeph never posts in this thread (until he sees this post)
