So I like the mascara I've been using, but I find no matter what I use I have a hard time with clumps, I don't use a curler or anything, would this help?

I haven't ever tried it but I hear that sort of shaking your head a little as you apply the mascara stops it clumping. Also keep your mascara warm, if it gets cold it gets clumpy. Put the tube in some hot water (with the lid ON) before you use it if it's really bad.
Metope:
I actually use my brow gel on my lashes too right before applying the mascara, it separates the lashes from each other and prevents clumping. Just remember to apply the mascara before the gel dries, or it will be really difficult to get the mascara even. You're wearing a lot of mascara in those pics though Andy, and I'm not sure if this tip is any good when you use lots of mascara since I tend to not use much of it, just a couple of layers. Anyway, this is what it looks like when I do it (bonus makeup-free eye to show the difference):
