Although I agree with hygiene being an issue, I strongly disagree with the above claim.
What people enjoy doing with their time is up to them, as long as it doesn't harm others. Yes, it seems likely that she will turn out to enjoy socialising, and be much happier for it, and in that case she will have been "helped". Yes, in this particular case she states that she doesn't know "how to talk to people" as a reason, which is a good indicator that it's a matter of inhibition rather than pure preference.
But: your statement suggests that wanting to sit on a computer all night rather than socialise is wrong, and someone who felt that way would need help.
I think that's kind of narrow-minded... I'm sure you disagree, but let me elaborate.
When it comes down to it, it's a simple issue of preference and although as a culture we're pushed to believe that being social is somehow 'right', it doesn't make it true. I know people who honestly prefer to stay at home and mess around on their computers than go out. I initially took the busy-body role and thought they needed help themselves, that they were just silly and hadn't tried having good ol' social fun. I dragged said friends out places, and you know what?
2 house parties, a concert (a band they all loved), a picnic, 3 bars and a sunny day at the beach later... They didn't enjoy themselves. Didn't matter where. They just genuinely did not have a good time - they genuinely preferred spending time online.
Someone not wanting to go out doesn't make them a child that we have to go and teach a lesson. Too many jump into crud like this assuming that they somehow know more about the person in question than that person knows themselves. The fact of the matter is that we all enjoy different things, and I know I ended up feeling like a dick for trying to force what I enjoy on other adults.
Anyway, I don't mean to be rude or anything, just to present a case against a common assumption. I registered just to post this, because it's something I personally have learned that many people seem to not consider. :-)
Sorry to go a little off-topic. Again, it does appear that Marigold would personally benefit from some socialisation, but the reasons in the quoted claim seemed to be unspecific to Marigold.

You know, instead of making that long ass redundant post about nothing, you could have just concisely said "do what you want with your life and not give a shit what others think". I think it gets across the same message.

That said I don't spend my Friday nights out, I spend them playing video games or in front of my computer and I'm doing pretty well for myself. I have a nice set of good friends, an incredibly hot and wonderful girlfriend, and a stable living situation. I'm actually pretty good at socializing and I get along with just about everyone I meet.
So no, I don't think there's something wrong with me because my hobbies are different than yours.

Yes but will be much larger in size.

I did some quick back of the envelop calculations, and at the current file size of ~200k, with the 300k or so readers Jeph has, that's 60G per comic of bandwidth, or 1.2T per month JUST for the comic image. I'm sure there's some headroom in the server account, but more than doubling the size of the image file to make it "pure" possibly has some real consequences.
Is it cold in here?:
Marigold said she didn't know how to talk to people. Unless that was just a phony excuse, Momo-tan (*) should have given her a quick lesson instead of moving into Ominous Mode. One of those "Ask open-ended questions about hobbies, travel, family, music and so on" explanations.
(*) One of the typos I caught before posting this was "Mom-tan".

Didn't I already answer this? I'm fairly sure I already answered this.
