WWW killed any hope of me becoming a 'Hawks fan decades ago.

I also hate "Chelsea Dagger".

Looking at pictures of Leighton Baines, I'm a bit confused. Are United trying to sign a guy whose actually from the 1970s?

Imagine that you have a lottery ticket, and you find out you didn't win the big prize. But when you go in to turn in the ticket, you realize that you actually matched all six numbers, so you actually did win the lottery.

That is what it is like to be a Nashville Predators fan right now. :)

(Okay, for some Preds fans. Others are ticked that we picked another defenseman.  :psyduck: )

oh hush, you.

in related news, looks like the Sharks traded away TJ Galiardi to Calgary in exchange for a draft pick. That's all well and good and all, but I liked him. One of my favorite players. Also it goes against the whole "We're not gonna slice-and-dice the team apart blah blah" thing I was reading a month ago.

Tebow to the Patriots ...

To make room for Tebow on the roster the Patriots waived Barabbas, for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

As a Green Bay Packers fan deep in Broncos territory. Fuck you Tim, and your little media minion too. Also fuck you Belichick! I wanted to see the tears when Tebow signed his CFL contract!

True, but the last MENS champion at Wimbledon was Fred Perry 77 years ago.  And Murray has been trying for about a decade to end the loss streak.

Ah sorry, did realise you were only refering to the men's side of the tournament. There's been a bit of a storm in the UK over Wade being airbrushed out of history just for a more emotive headline.

It strikes a chord with me as a campaigner for better gender equality in sports. Ironically, Wimbledon is one of the few tournaments to offeran equal purse for men and women. Of course Wade's win was as meritorious as Murray's.

Virginia Wade is British and she won 40 years ago.
And I remember watching that match. She beat Chris Evert-Lloyd. And sportingly offered to replay a ball, when Evert-Lloyd complain about a call by one of the referees. Something that I remember from my youth is considered ancient history :psyduck: :psyduck:

God. I'm getting old.

May be it was Evert's first serve that Wade agreed to let her redo?

Not THOSE Giants. The REAL Giants.

My team was pretty much eliminated the day a certain left fielder of ours was suspended for the rest of the season.

And as for hockey - of course Patrick likes this time of the year. His Sharks haven't been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs yet!

I went to my first-ever NHL game tonight! Ducks at Sharks. We lost 3-2 in OT, but it was still amazing. Niemi was goaltending and I got to see most of my favorites. Burns, Kearns, Marleau, Couture... I didn't get to see Pavelski though.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Torres and a player on the Ducks collided HARD head-on at full speed. They both spent about 2 minutes down. Torres managed to get up with some help and he mostly got himself to the locker room from there. Ducks guy needed help the whole way. I felt sorrier for the player from the Ducks, Raffi can probably take a hard hit or two.

Much like Patrick, I was also at an NHL preseason game this week.

Boston gave Malcolm Subban (PK's little brother) his first professional start in goal, and Detroit responded by bringing Datsyuk, Alfredsson, Kronwall, Frazen, Abdelkader, etc.

It wasn't ever fair, poor kid gave up 8 goals.

Next game I'll be going to is Syracuse Crunch (Tampa's AHL affiliate) opening night in a few weeks. I am so pumped.

I've been to 16 NHL games. 15 of them involving the Predators.

Make that 17 and 16, if you include pre-season games.

No real update on the Raffi Torres and Emerson Etem collision other than the fact that I hadn't noticed Etem's return to the ice later in the game, and that Torres and the Sherxx are awaiting test results on his knee.
