Finally beating *that* game....

Caleb:
Well that's your opinion.  I just don't see it.

Now System Shock 2.  Now THAT game could be considered a survival horror game depending on what abilities you take and the difficulty level.  (until later in the game when you find/purchase a ton of ammo)

Maybe it's just the way I played Bioshock.  I never had the "oh shit oh shit oh shit I need to find an ammo clip/health pack please before I run into something else" or "I better not use up my bullets right now because there might be something worse in the next room".

Have you ever played the original Resident Evil games or the Remake of RE1?

Felrender:
RE4 and 5 are survival horror like MGS4 was a stealth game.

Where this analogy falls apart is that RE4/ parts of RE5 were fun.

--- Quote from: Alex C on 26 Oct 2009, 16:22 ---It probably doesn't help much that Act 2 has some of the more frustrating ways to die snuck in there as well, at least for neophytes. For example, if I remember correctly those vultures had a jacked up attack speed and could keep you stuck in the flinch animation pretty easily if they got off a good string of attacks. Real dangerous if you're trying to separate them from a named mob when it happens. And of course there's Duriel, who is renowned for his caster gibbing capabilities.

Hell, even if you weren't a caster, you were fucked on Duriel if you had no way to resist the slow effect.

Related, but I finally got to, and defeated, Baal about 3 months ago.

The trick, I've found, is using countless town portal scrolls. Have one hotkeyed. The second you enter his lair, cast it, then switch to whatever and wail away on him for a few second with all you've got, staying close to the portal. After sustaining a couple hits, duck into the portal and heal up. It takes ages but I managed it w/o dying for the first time not too long ago using this strategy. Plus, if you do die, you get resurrected with a portal already in the lair which is incredibly helpful considering what a pain in the ass it is to even get there.

As for the topic at hand, I have never beaten any of the Grand Theft Auto games, any of the Elder Scrolls games, or Neverwinter Nights. I have managed to beat Link's Awakening, which made me feel rather accomplished I must say.

Blue Kitty:
I've never beaten the GTA games up until GTA 4.  There was always one mission I could never do/hated and I just liked dicking around and improving relationships.

snalin:
Ocarina of time.

I had to use a guide for the water temple; at one point it said "if you don't know what to do here, you should go bang your head against the wall and scream I AM AN IDIOT I AM AN IDIOT" and stop playing the game. I stopped playing the game.
