Vuk:
My friend made me listen to Skrillex, and I actually kind of enjoyed it. Catchy as hell.

KvP:
P4k has a documentary on the origins of UK dbstp up this week only.

Ok I've been following this forum for a while to see if Skrillex would be brought up. I want opinions.

Frontman from the late-to-the-game post-hardcore screamo band From First To Last (Sonny Moore) comes late to the game to the wobblehouse scene and starts becoming wildly popular.

But what do the "music people" think of Skrillex?

KvP:
I think his music is tedious and dull, and besides I tend to look askance at acts who are earnest and open about making electronic music with rock signifiers and strictures - If the Prodigy couldn't pull that off in '97 it's pretty much impossible to do these days. Skrillex's most obvious (and acknowledged) influence is Justice, natch.

I don't care what the dude looks like, but a lot of people seem to (this is the guy, for those wondering).

Really the worst thing is that when you're making ridiculously aggressive electro like Skrillex you really ought to have a sense of humor about it (see: VSnares) but I haven't been able to detect anything like that in any of the tracks I've been subjected to.

Awesome electronic music, or dubstep, or awesome dubstep.
