mtmerrick:
Well, I knew some of that.  Guess I just didn't know the extents to which it went.

Carl-E:
Many human surgical procedures were perfected on animals in the past.  It's done less nowadays, but animals definitely benefit from the practice.

HappyHavoc:
I love my cats. They can be a huge pain in the ass sometimes but they make me happy.

ankhtahr:
I'm so sorry to hear that jwhouk. I still remember how I felt, when the first gecko I had died without a sign. We still have one of her offspring though.

It feels horrible to lose an animal you've bonded with for so long. Remember the good times you had with your cat and try to keep in mind that she had a good life. It hurts to have this happen to pets, but at least to me it helps to keep them in a good memory.

Bluesummers:
I'm sorry you had to go through that, jwhouk. I've had several cats pass away due to kidney failure, so I know how it feels. Especially to have it come on so suddenly...

I had a German Shepherd for about seven years (we got her when she was three), and she just passed away two months ago, from cancer. We though she was having breathing problems, so we brought her in and the vet took some x-rays...apparently her lungs had been filling with blood for about a week prior. We didn't have the money for biopsies or treatment, and the vet said it would only cause her more pain anyway, so...we let her rest. She's in a better place now.
