Carl-E:
Crop circles? :-D
As your skin loses elasticity, scars are less able to fade. So be careful when you get older - those marks are even more permanent!
I have several on my hands - the hazards of being a DIY guy - but one real noticable one is from a whittling accident when I was about 10. Jagged edges just don't heal well!

"Scars are souvenirs you never lose. The past is never far."
I don't even like that song overly much, but I heard it at work today and, since I have several scars, the line struck a chord with me :-)

or:
"Pain is temporary, Glory lasts forever and Chicks dig scars"
I've found myself noticing Faye's scar's variable visibility and hated myself each time for being so petty
I've had dozens of small scars on my hands that have faded away after some years but a 2 inch one on my knee from razorwire when I was 10 as never disappeared
Penquin47:
I have the opposite problem - scars that just randomly appear.
Seriously, I know that I have never injured a particular spot on my left hand, but there's a nice shiny scar there. It can't be from childhood because I didn't have the scar till I was a teenager. It can't be from getting wasted because I've never been wasted and anyway I'd have noticed the next morning that I had hurt my hand.
iduguphergrave:
Somebody pointed this out while the drawing of that comic was being broadcast; Jeph answered that her shirt isn't low-cut enough to show the scar.
