After having been covered on the live circuit with some excitement by MM’s Cath A, Everything Everything have been serving up a range of impressive, but equally baffling live performances. Their sound, as many will attest, is not one that can be easily defined. A mixture of rock, post rock, afrobeats, prog, deep harmonies and indie spikes, the lead track “Suffragette Sufrragette” is addictive. The rhythm conspires to throw you off beat, whilst a vocal skips into falsetto before the structure rumbles into a head shaking middle eight, which seems completely at odds with the stifled, dub assisted strums.

Everything Everything aren’t different for the sake of it and there’s no disjointed distillation of influences either. This single is an inspired charge at the established order. It defines it’s own genre, at the same time, spinning out an intelligent barrage of guitar arrangements, mixed tempos and sing-a-long angelic harmonies. If you want a clue as to what else they can do, the next song “Luddites & Lambs” is crammed with jangling prog / post rock guitar phrases and sweet, but off-kilter vocalisations. There are a lot of new bands on North West scene, never mind the UK as a whole, but if I had to back one act for 2009 - and one that has instantly woken me up to something completely new - it’s Everything Everything.

Oh hey, we sure are the first google hit for "mediafire thread".  I'll look into hiding this thread from the outside world, but I am not sure it's as easy as that.  I know we can hide forums, just not sure about individual threads.  In the past Jeph's not wanted this forum to be registered-users only.

An alternative would be moving the thread into one of the hidden forums, but that just doesn't feel right.

Yeah the whole seperate genre thing is a bit complex. Not only does it KILL the fun; it's also very hard these days to put one specific band/artist into one specific genre. You would have more genre threads than your grandmother knows how to sew together.
I'm all for just having this thread, less well known to the populous, slightly more "presentable", and at the same time, just the way it is.

I love Music, this much is practically a given. And so it is with utmost sincerity when I tell you that Sekklow's Mind The Step Mix set is basically the fucking sweetest fucking album I have fucking listened too in a long time. I can't quite explain it, but I'll try. Basically, Dubstep is when electronic music decides to turn town the "Fluff" and turn up the "Skunky, Demonic, Wheezing, and Face-Smashingly poppin' Bass, Beats, and Bump". Now what this mix proceeds to do is take that formula and MASTERFULLY craft it into the single smoothest sounding Party Mix I have ever heard (Yes, I have like 15 Fabric and Fabriclives, my qualifier stands). But it's more than that, as much fun as you and everyone in the room will have when you throw it on, you can also bring the party inside.

For anyone whose never done this with other music (Onewheelwizzard & his brood probably know exactly what I'm talking about), take this record, put it on when no one else is around or gonna be around for like and hour and a half, and just VIBE your frickin' brain out. Just chill, take in every single note and digitally remastered synth/bass/drum line, and just explore as many different possibilities in your own head as you can. It never ceases to amaze what kind of places truly inspired music can take you, and this record is just a guaranteed ticket to "Smoothsville". Special notice goes out to the Sekklow remix  of "Use Somebody" by the Kings of Leon, this is easily my absolutely favorite piece of electronic music ever, including the Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger/Around the World Mix from Alive 2007 by Daft Punk and Breathe by The Prodigy. I seriously cannot listen to the drop in this track without totally losing my shit all over the place, this usually results in me having to bust moves and cut rugs all up and down in this biznitch.

In conclusion, take this album and rock out/jam out with your cock/clam out.

*I wont send crappy poems to people who posted crappy acoustic records (Does not compute).

In my opinion it is better than this AllMusic review (located South) says. Hopefully this abides by the new rules, in that it's an album I'm currently enjoying, right this moment. If you need further reassurance, I do not upload things often and I'm sure there will be some people who enjoy this.

2008 was a banner year for the Hotel Café, whose popularity soared as songwriters like Priscilla Ahn, Meiko, and Ingrid Michaelson -- three artists who routinely graced the Hollywood venue's stage -- all released fine albums. The Café's female alumni hit the road in late 2008 as part of the Hotel Café Tour, allowing Joshua Radin the chance to release his own record during the lull. Simple Times is the songwriter's second album, building on the hushed guitar 'n' vocals combo that helped push his debut effort, 2006's We Were Here, onto the soundtracks of several television shows. His craft has improved since then -- after all, We Were Here collected the singer's earliest material, appearing only two years after his decision to give songwriting a shot -- but Radin still struggles with the balance between mood and melody. Simple Times is a warm, easygoing album geared for Sunday afternoons and Monday mornings, and its most interesting moments only occur when Radin invites somebody else into the vocal booth. Meiko lends her voice to "Sky," which balances commonplace lyrics with a radio-bound pop melody, while the up-and-coming songbird Erin McCarley harmonizes throughout "They Bring Me to You." Radin could use the musical input of those two artists, yet he relegates their role to that of a background vocalist, forcing them to sing major thirds over melodies that, frankly, pale in comparison to the girls' own material. The presence of Patty Griffin during "You Got Growing Up to Do" shows that Radin's potential may be evident to more veteran songwriters, but it's nevertheless muddled on this record, which offers an entirely pleasant listen but fails to pack the melodic wallop of Radin's Hotel Café peers.

Shit Robot is an artist on DFA Records. As it is to be expected from the previous sentence he performs a manner of dance music although not in the style of the traditional dance-punk that used to characterise DFA. Shit Robot mostly does long pieces that stick to a main theme but are always changing underneath. The instrumentation is often fairly minimal, based on old synths and drum machines with a steady but not monotonous beat. It can also be said like someone is just playing a ton of effects over a rhythm that is equal parts low-key  disco and electro.

So far, he has released two singles and a couple of remixes. This is the first that he released. If people like it feel free to ask me for the other one using the PM function.
