When I suggested this thread, I thought it would be used for out of print albums that are nearly impossible to find through other means, a lot like how I saw it work on another forum. But people kept uploading the entire discography of the Velvet Underground, Neutral Milk Hotel, albums that are about to be released into the top100 charts. I haven't complained because I have no right to. I have no right to judge. People are uploading music for each other, for free, hopefully because they really love music and want to share this thing to them that is oh so amazingly special. Anybody who loves music for the right reasons can not complain about people uploading music they don't like for no cost at all.
Yes, people could be a little more religious with the thread rules. I sincerely hope that nobody uploads free music to this thread as some sort of "proof", because that isn't what this thread is supposed to be about.
My own (personal) guidelines for this thread are that I generally ignore request (unless the album is out of print/hard to find), ignore request for a re-post, because an expired link, in a way, is a beautiful thing. Just like a flower that bloomed, so brightly, so beautifully, and then faded into winter. I avoid uploading albums the majority of people will already know, no matter how much people "MUST HAVE" them. I don't go away of my way to upload anything (as evidenced by my lack of participation), but if I have something that I feel needs to be heard, I'm going to share it.
For the most part, this thread has been a very beautiful thing. And it will continue to be a beautiful thing, if we just pay attention to the delicate 'ecosystem' being created within.
