got two more

Tunng - Comments of the Inner Chorus

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?wxxoyaardyr
I put up their newest album earlier, Good Arrows. This is their second album, and I really think it's a lot better. Probably should have put this one up first. A bit more folky, but I think that's what they do best.

The Never - Antarctica: A Storybook Record

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?wiw9wscelym
The Never are similar to groups like Annuals(which I know I've seen here before) and Manchester Orchestra, that indie-rock thing. This album though is a concept album and it's telling the story of this childs journey through Antarctica and his trials and tribulations. The record came with a book that told the whole story, one of my friends had it it was real crazy stuff.

Everyone download feh's Shadowy Men albums. If you don't know, think back to Kids in the Hall. Yep, the theme song.

That band is even better than just that. Super-quirky surf-rock goodness.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (SSLYBY) is an American indie pop band from Springfield, Missouri. Their full-length album Broom, independently released in 2005, received good reviews from Spin Magazine and they are now signed with Polyvinyl Record Co.. The band's name refers to Boris Yeltsin, the first President of Russia (1990-1999).

Found a mediaf!re link, haven't listened yet:

My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

Now I'm just hoping that Death Cab and Coldplay will leak in these next two weeks before I have to go home where I don't have internet. :|

edit: I've listened and the link works fine.  The album is good, but not as good as Z, and a lot of people are going to disapprove of some song's directions.

Except for the part where you used quote instead of code. Fix please.

It's the # button right above the afro and smiley dude and below the line.

Somebody should change the rules because the code button is not above the policeman at all. I think that is what is confusing people.

But thank you for the albums though!

eeeeedit:

No hot-linking images or albums. You can re-host images at http://imageshack.us.

Ensure your tags are correct and that you have specified both Artist/Album in your post.

Upload your files in either a .zip or a .rar archive to mediaf!re.com, in multiple parts if the album is over 100mbs. The reason for this is that we know mediaf!re is safe and efficient and allows multiple downloads. The ads on other sites, such as Sendspace, are known to contain viruses on the page. Get yourself checked out.

Post your link using code tags. It's the # icon above the afro and smiley dude emotion and below the line (horizontal rule) button. This prevents the links from being traced back to the forums, lowering the chance that the wrong people notice the thread, potentially threatening Jeph with legal action.

Also, please do NOT request albums.

I am so jealous you do not even know.  I got to talk to him once after the show in the giant empty pool in Brooklyn a couple summers ago.  He seemed really cool.  Oh yeah, and his band is mind-blowing.

I'll listen to this album as soon as it finishes downloading.  Thanks a lot!

I've been listening to lively ones today and thinking about how eternally awesome surf is. We need more of it.
I'll probably upload something soon enough, ventures or other laika stuff. Unfortunately, my surf knowledge is pretty much limited to pulp fiction ost.

Mobb Deep - The Infamous [1995] 192kbps

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?c2owwsutonj

from amg
Quote
One of the cornerstones of the New York hardcore movement, The Infamous is Mobb Deep's masterpiece, a relentlessly bleak song cycle that's been hailed by hardcore rap fans as one of the most realistic gangsta albums ever recorded. Given Mobb Deep's youthful age and art-school background, it's highly unlikely that The Infamous is drawn strictly from real-life experience, yet it's utterly convincing, because it has all the foreboding atmosphere and thematic sweep of an epic crime drama. That's partly because of the cinematic vision behind the duo's detailed narratives, but it's also a tribute to how well the raw, grimy production evokes the world that Mobb Deep is depicting. The group produced the vast majority of the album itself, with help on a few tracks from the Abstract (better known as Q-Tip), and establishes a spare, throbbing, no-frills style indebted to the Wu-Tang Clan. This is hard, underground hip-hop that demands to be met on its own terms, with few melodic hooks to draw the listener in. Similarly, there's little pleasure or relief offered in the picture of the streets Mobb Deep paints here: They inhabit a war zone where crime and paranoia hang constantly in the air. Gangs are bound together by a code of fierce loyalty, relying wholly on one another for survival in a hopeless environment. Hostile forces -- cops, rivals, neighborhood snitches -- are potentially everywhere, and one slip around the wrong person can mean prison or death. There's hardly any mention of women, and the violence is grim, serious business, never hedonistic. Pretty much everything on the album contributes to this picture, but standouts among the consistency include "Survival of the Fittest," "Eye for a Eye," "Temperature's Rising," "Cradle to the Grave," and the classic "Shook Ones, Pt. 2." The product of an uncommon artistic vision, The Infamous stands as an all-time gangsta/hardcore classic.

Amanaz - Africa [1975]

Code: [Select]
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?jyuvm090nyn

Quote
Its been a good day. The sun is shining, its warm-ish outside and my Amanaz record came in the mail. I got a tip a while back from gorillavsbear on the reissuing of Amanaz’s 1973 LP Africa. I knew I had to get on that when I heard Khala my Friend, especially cause I know have a deep fondness for that meandering kind of music that makes you feel warm and special. Anyway, this could be written off as just an old stoner record, but while it will help to be baked, its not necessary to become hypnotized by these fuzzy gems.

Amanaz formed in 1973 and recorded Africa in Kitwe, Zambia. All the members lend vocals at some point, which contirbutes sort of a different feeling to each song. Some are better vocalists than others; Isaac Mpofu has a great raspy voice thats like another Issac (Hayes) but a little more haunting. 3 of the songs are sung in Bemba and 9 in English. Bemba turns out to be a fitting language for gliding on the bitchin distorted blues riff in “Africa.” The guitar is subdued though, enough for Amanaz’s harmonious gospel to shine through.

alright well, i have a lot of different metal stuff that may have already been posted (ill admit it, i didnt read through all 60 pages)
i will list the bands i can remember(im on a public computer right now), brief description and if i have their discography or not, which albums, etc. let me know if there is any interest in any of it, and i will upload it.
if i underline an albums its means its a really good one, or an entry album

Amon Amarth- melodic death metal, bout vikings. (discography)
Annihilator- old school thrash (alice in hell & Never, neverland)
Anthrax- happy sounding thrash (just a best of, and some random ones. could put them all on a file)
Arch Enemy- gothenburg styl melodic DM. not as heavy as amon amarth. girl singer/growler(doomsday Machine & Rise of the tyrant(new one))
Between the Buried and Me- proggy metalcore (Colours)
Black Label Society- heavy metal band, Zakk Wylde from Ozzy on guitar and vocals. pretty good(discography)
Black Sabbath- c'mon, you know these guys. heavy old school metal(i think i have most of their studio albums, not many from the Dio era)
Buckethead- crazy solo instrumental guitar guy (selftitled, some random)
Jason Becker- amazing neoclassical guitarist paralyzed in early twenties, still writes music. also with guitarist marty friedman in "cacaphony". if you dont know of this guy, check his documentary on youtube, you wont be dissapointed. (perpetual burn, Rasberry Jams, blackberry jams demos unreleased, and Perspective)
Marty Friedman - more exotic styled solo guitar, (bunch of random songs and somewith Jason Becker, will probably get more albums by this guy soon)
and back to alphabetical
Candlemass a seriously good traditional Doom metal band. very heavy guitar and rhythm, typically slower tempos, though a lot of mid tempo stuff, good soloing and a talented operatic style singer, he is a bit of a love/hate thing (Discography- Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, Nightfall, Ancient Dreams, Tales of Creation, Chapter VI, dactylis Glomerata, 13th sun, Candlemass, King of the grey Islands)
Children Of Bodom good melodic death type stuff, great guitar.(discography)
Dark Tranquility gothenburg melodeath. easy to get into i think. (newest album)
Death probably my favourite band here. this band started the death metal genre although has very little to do with the cannibal corpse type stuff. very heavy and technical, great rhythm and good solos. lots of complicated timing and exotic sounding licks. sorta growling singer, decent lyrics, more political in later albums, horror movieish in the first few. band broke up in 2001, when the original founder, guitarist vocalist and songwriter died of brain tumour and surgery complications.if you like metal i endorse these guys entirley(Entire Discography)
Dethklok- fictional DM band from the show metalocalypse. good music, funny lyrics (their only album and bonus songs)
Devin Townsend- awesome metal drummer from various bands solo album. he has a band with him obviously. funny songwriting, brutally awesome drumming. (Ziltoid the Omnicsient)
Dio- classic heavy metal stuff. like a mix between black sabbath and ozzy. (i have his good albums)
Dokken - hair metal, good guitar (best of)
Dream Theater- very talented progressive metal band. great stuff (discography)
Electric Wizard- the heaviest, trippiest, sweetest stoner metal band (discography)
Ensiferum- great folk metal. very awesome. guitarist left to form Wintersun (discography)
InFlames- good(well, used to) melodeath band.(jester race/black ash inheritance & new album)
Iron Maiden you should know. good stuff(all studio albums, rock in rio live)
Isis- havent really listened to them much but i have(their newest album, i think)
Joe Satriani- seriously kickass guitarist. loads of solo stuff, nominated for grammy 13 times(its a record) he taught kirk hammet of metallica, alex scolnick of testament, steve vai. amazing stuff. not very metal at all, just very technical rock and stuff(discography and new one Professor Sathafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
John 5 formerly of marylin manson, is actually good without manson bitching at him. good instrumental stuff, serial murder themed country elements(the devil knows my name)
Judas Priest- again a classic NWOBHM band. (all albums with robhalford singing)
Kreator- great german thrash band. its like slayer, but with talented guitarists, actual guitar solos and a less annoying singer. thumbs up!(Enemy of God, some random)
Machine Head great heavy thrash/groove metal. their new CD was thought to be the best release of the year(the Blackening)
Mastodon chances are youve heard of these guys. check the mastodon thread. awesome(discgraphy)
Megadeth good thrash band, metalica's contempories. exect they are still good. (discography)
Meshuggah crazy band. super heavy, play 8 string guitars, immensly ridiculous timing and rhythm. kickass stuff, if you are into that sort of thing (obZen, random)
Metallica duh (discography minus newest couple)
Municipal Waste very tight thrash band, punky lyrics, funny stuff too.(art of partying and hazardous mutation)
Nevermore okay shreddy stuff. i have the discog on my ipod but deleted it on the  computer. kinda meh, but if you like them i can upload it
Opeth other favourite band here. massive thread on them in the music section. melodic, heavy, growled clean, good atmosphere, highly recommended (discography)
Ozzy osbourne good early metal/rock stuff. always has an amazing guitarist. (discog)
Pantera good grooving thrash (probably an albums worth of random stuff)
Racer x paul gilberts band. incredible instrumentation, rocking riffs and solos (technical difficulties)
Rush not metal, good prog rock band (double disc best of)
Scorpions great hairmetal, rock stuff. (new album and double disc best of)
Slayer good riffing, terrible solos, thrash mostly anti christian lyrics (most of their studio albums)
Solitude Aeturnus amazingly good doom metal band, same sort of thing as candlemass, more accsessible singer. i like them a lot (discography)
Steve Vai guitar virtuoso. amazingly talented, tasteful compositions, rocking lead work. (random stuff, getting passion and warfare soon)
Testament very metallica like [ride the lightning, fade to black ish stuff] better lead guitar. i prefer the singer here. more interesting riff work and songwriting imo. great band(discography)
Trouble another great doom/stoner metal band. weird singer, aquired taste. i love the guitar and song feel. early albums are more doom, later are more rockish(psalm 9, the skull, run to the light, Trouble)
Wintersun first album, folky style stuff. melodic tight rhythm. very highly though of (their only album yet)

holy shit that took a long time to write up. and i actually found my ipod so that will be all of them, info is correct

^okay well, i got perpetual burn going up as we speak, ill edit in a link once it's done.

okay here it is

Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn

Perpetual Burn is a solo album released in 1988 (see 1988 in music) by Jason Becker on Shrapnel Records. His former Cacophony band-mate, Marty Friedman, performed with him as a guest on two tracks, "Temple Of The Absurd", "Dweller In The Cellar."

Track listing

   1. "Altitudes" (Becker) 5:39
   2. "Perpetual Burn" (Becker) 3:29
   3. "Mabel's Fatal Fable" (Becker) 4:52
   4. "Air" (Becker) 5:37
   5. "Temple of the Absurd" (Becker/Friedman) 4:42
   6. "Eleven Blue Egyptians" (Becker/Friedman) 5:44
   7. "Dweller in the Cellar" (Becker) 6:14
   8. "Opus Pocus" (Becker) 5:37

In an interview with GftPM magazine, Jason stated that he composed Air after listening to a lot of Mozart. This track demonstrates the classical guitar technique originally learnt from his father, although the recorded performance is on an electric guitar with a clean tone.

Just a few random albums that I've enjoyed for awhile...

The Pines - S/T
Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?fbwmzbnwonzAlt, Indie, Folk
Quote
Composed of Iowa natives David Huckfelt and Benson Ramsey, The Pines combine roots, blues and indie-rock to create a raw, haunting sound that is inventive and compelling. The son of Greg Brown's producer and sideman Bo Ramsey, Benson was reared on folk and blues music and continues to let those influences shine, even on louder electric songs. Like Benson, David also has a deep love for traditional music, and together the two of them craft music that evokes the ancient while incorporating newer rock and pop grooves. Both strong writers and musicians, Benson and David have distinct voices that complement each other, causing audiences and critics alike to tout them as a powerful young force in American roots music.

Atmosphere - Sad Clown Bad Summer Number 9

Quote
(Review on Amazon : Just picked this EP up. Gotta say I'm surprised. Why, you ask? Well, here's an album, where, for once, Slug isn't all emo!! What we have here is essentially a 5 song EP of Sluggo reminiscing about his youth. In fact, the first track, Sunshine, has will smith's cliché-ridden "summertime" beat, in terms of lyrical content, imagery, and general overall tone - though in an ironic twist - it also references that same song. Pretty much a testament to Sluggo's genius. Anyway, another sterling effort from Minneapolis' finest. I could say more, but let's face it; all the real hip hop fans out there certainly don't need a bunch of badly strung together words from me to motivate them. Anyway, another sterling effort from Minneapolis' finest. Cop it now, you won't be sorry.

Bedhead - Beheaded
Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?9mmczmw1nsmIndie Rock, pop
Quote
Beheaded opens with the deceivingly dark title track. One of the group's most awkward melodies frames the soft-speaking vocalist who hides among the guitar tones. After crawling through this territory, "Beheaded" opens up into a typically angelic melody. "Roman Candle" and "Withdraw" (both adding shades of slide guitar) recall the stripped-down sound of the group's 4-songEP19:10 (1994). On Beheaded, however, any inconsistencies and small shortcomings have been removed in the studio. Thankfully, Bedhead has always sounded like a group of five musicians in a room together, and Beheaded engineer Adam Wiltzie maintains that atmosphere throughout. Bedhead's sophomore full-length represents another stop on the road to slow-burning, soaring, indie rock/pop perfection.

Mark Lanegan - Field Songs
Code: [Select]
http://www.mediafire.com/?mvdmyy2mddoBlues alt rock/folk
Quote
Lanegan pours out blues- and gospel-tinged country-rock over ice and sips it for 42 and a half minutes -- and that's precisely what he's been up to since 1990's The Winding Sheet. Why the heck not? He's damn good at it, and he proves it here on Field Songs. Some new things are abreast on this record as Ben Shepherd (Soundgarden) is present on most tracks lending his guitar and bass hands. Also present are Bill Rieflin (KMFDM, Lard, Ministry, etc.) and Duff McKagen (Guns N' Roses) who each play on one track and are a part of Lanegan's touring band along with Shepherd. Mike Johnson (Dinosaur Jr.) has been on each of Lanegan's albums and continues to add much of the building blocks and the mortar necessary to pluck out these songs that are constructed much in the same vein as in the past but with some nuances and a greater color depth. Upon repeated listens, standout tracks such as "Miracle," "Kimiko's Dream House," and "Fix" become infectiously memorable as convincing tales about love gained and lost. All in all, every track is solid and worthy of numerous spins.

Thanks for this.

Could I be a dickhead and ask for some of the stuff after he got diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease? I'm just curious as to how that affected his music, that's all.

to caspian and plyphon, sure ill upload those. look for them tommorrow evening, (its 11:30pm and i gots an exam in the morning)

the jason Becker one ill upload is his "perspectives" album which is stuff he has composed after being paralyzed and had other musicians play. its too big, ill have to split it in two.

ill put up the wintersun album, and one of the ensiferum albums if you want.
okay here is the first one, stay tuned for the others plyphon.

Jason Becker - Perspectives

Track listing

   1. Primal
   2. Rain
   3. End of the Beginning
   4. Higher
   5. Blue
   6. Life and Death
   7. Empire
   8. Serrana
   9. Meet Me in the morning
Featuring Steve Perry, Michael Lee Firkins, Matt and Gregg Bissonette, Steve Hunter, members of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra and members of the San Francisco Girls Chorus.

"I have had ALS since I was almost 20 years old. I’m going on 30 now. I was a guitarist until this disease swiped that little skill (for the time being, anyway). I wrote songs and recorded four albums. But as my guitar playing dwindled, something else in my music got better. Something indefinable. Every song on this album was done during this time. They are like my kids. My mother calls them her grandsongs.

I believe I will be healed, but if not, so be it. Even though I have this disease I am really lucky in most ways. I am surrounded by friends and loved ones who never let me forget my inner fire, hope and faith. Many handicapped people do not have this luxury. Please do what you can to be aware of them, help them, or just give them some positive thoughts. And keep your butts out of the blue zones. Please try to feel and give only love and compassion to everyone; you will be happy. Don’t judge or hate anything; you will be unhappy."
album recorded after becoming totally paralyzed. he may have recorded a few of the instruments before completely succumbing to his illness but i am not sure.
i like Higher, myself.

here is the first half, tracks 1-5

The Whole Story of Glory - Do Make Say Think
Japan only EP leak. A brand new song, a reworking of an old song, two live recordings, a couple older songs. New Do Make Say Think is always a major cause of excitement for me. Enjoy.

^ah okay.

here is the wintersun album. ensiferum is on its way.

Wintersun - Wintersun

Wintersun are a Finnish metal band, founded by ex-Ensiferum frontman, Jari Mäenpää. The band plays a range of genres that is often hard to define into one style, those being; extreme power metal, folk metal, progressive metal, melodic death metal and melodic black metal. There is also prominent use of orchestral keyboard sounds. The first Wintersun album was supposed to be a side project of Ensiferum member Jari Mäenpää. However, the Ensiferum Europe tour was unfortunately scheduled for the same time with recordings of Wintersun. Mäenpää had to choose between his booked recording time for Wintersun and Ensiferum; he chose Wintersun and was forced to leave Ensiferum behind. Wintersun was produced solely by Jari Mäenpää himself, with only a session drummer (Kai Hahto) to perform the drums and percussion. Jari performed the vocals, bass, guitars and synth alone. On September 13, 2004 self-titled Wintersun album was released through Nuclear Blast Records.

Ensiferum - Ensiferum

1.Intro
2.Hero in a Dream
3.Token of Time
4.Guardians of Fate
5.Old Man (Väinämöinen)
6.Little Dreamer (Väinämöinen part II)
7.Abandoned
8.Windrider
9.Treacherous Gods
10.Eternal Wait
11.Battle Song
12.Goblins’ Dance

Screaming vocals often mixed with clean vocals for choruses and bridges;
Metal melodies played on lead guitar or keyboard overlaying heavier traditional heavy metal backing rhythms such as the classic gallop rhythm;
Lyrical themes relating to fantastical, archaic, or historic stories usually with heroic sentiment. Lyrics are inspired by literature, films, and poetry, such as the great Finnish epic "Kalevala" and the Norse sagas.

Imagine, if you will, a New Mexican boom town immediately following the American Civil War, complete with deserted soldiers gambling and drinking in a dingy saloon. They recount their tales of battle to the women who work the brothels, telling them of lost friends and long gone lovers. Still with me? OK, now imagine that the Replacements are providing the house music for that saloon. If you can do that then you might have an idea of the sound that Lynchburg's own Hi Ho, Six Shooter! has created...

Hi Ho, Six Shooter! see themselves as storytellers and character actors rather than rockers. Every song embodies a different persona and a different folk tale. It is the difference in the approach to their balladeering, however, that this writer found refreshing. There are no college degrees or five-dollar words here. Instead, this is country-punk rock music made by boys who had barely outgrown playing cowboys and Indians when they suddenly discovered ideas of death and loss.

The fourth track was written about my roommate. And that's about as close to famous as she or I will ever get. They can also be found on the album "We'll Inherit the Earth...A Tribute to the Replacements" with bands such as The Erg's and Against Me!
