Dora/Faye silliness is hugely adorable after all the Marten waaaangst.
Wang-angst? I don't think he has that.

I have to admit, today's comic hit me like a sledgehammer to the shins. (which is another painful story I'll not repeat here)
Any and all of my brain was expecting more of the mellow-Marten-melodrama-marmelade and instead it got genuinely surprising silly sniffing. oO

My first thought was "Hey, Faye Tai-ed up." but then I realized Faye and Angus weren't into bondage.

The Faye-hawk haters are coming...
Mh... and a surprising new hairdo always pays its debt.

For comic #2063...

1. Ah a break from mopey Marten.  And kudos to DSL on the plaid marten picture too, it made me laugh.

2. Dora's large (or wide?) eyes panel-for-panel for this strip are eerie... yet cute... yet unsettling... yet hypnotic... :psyduck:

3. This is the Dora I have been missing.  Dora looks much better, with better attitude to match.

4. While I am not certain how I feel, either way, about "fuzz-cut" Faye, I am hoping this means we see some changes in Faye's looks.  I think a new (non-square) style of glasses for Faye would be interesting.

5. It will be amusing & interesting to see Angus' reaction to Faye's haircut.  And to see if he survives our southern punching belle's reaction to his likely irresistable snarky reaction of said haircut.  Assuming such a potential comedy moment does not get undertowed by Faye's committed relationship worries.

6. Mmm...apple-cinnamon pie in a girl's hair.  That is hot... and sticky... and narmy...

7. And, is Dora...tasting...Faye's hair in panel #4 while enjoying the fuzzy feel?

8. I will never tire of these "daaaaaaang" moments between Dora & Faye.

9. Warning - While you were typing, George R. R. Martin has managed to put out the next book for A Song of Ice & Fire series.  You may wish to review your post.  [Okay, that's over the line, board posting automator! /shakesfist]

[Post Edit Add: It just occurred to me that there are a lot of things that I will never tire of in QC, which is probably good since they can then cycle through enough so that I will never tire of them :-D .]

Folks, you know you can turn off the red warnings in your profile, if you don't like them...

I did for a while, but then turned them back on when I realised they were actually useful in avoiding faux pas.

But where's the fun in that? Adding a tiny little complaint about the red text at the end of one's post has kinda become an inside meme, methinks. I always enjoy reading it and knowing other people suffer the same struggle is a bonding thing and adds to a sustained and healthy digital society. :-D

13. All right, I toned down the red in my previous joking post as to not chase away any more Tovas, and that I agreed that it was rather eye-searing in retrospect.

14.  But I stand my ground on my posting style because that is the way I write for this forum, that and I know we love our quote funnels  .  If you cannot handle that, you can go mope pantless in a lumberjack shirt on a close-to-the-floor couch while eating an apple-cinnamon hair-pie.

15. okay that last bit made me go "eew."  definitely time to go to bed after long late-night work...

Just as an aside, it seems that for this week at least, Jeph has been updating the comic before midnight, rather than pulling regular all-nighters and posted at whatever-ungodly-hour-of-the-morning. At any rate, I hope that signifies a healthier Jeph.

I had just rediscovered this one while looking for plaid shirts.  It's rather endearing in a way that today's comic... is not.

Sorry, Dora's just a leeeeetle creepy here.

I'm trying to imagine Tai's reaction if she walks into the coffee shop in the middle of panel #4.
     - simple shock and fall out?
     - accusations that she is being taunted?
     - imagination overload resulting in her returning home to *ahem* relax and entertain herself?
     - or maybe no reaction at all?

Then again, maybe I'm just wrong to go there.

When I jumped into the stream I actually thought it was Renee at first, then by extension Padma when he drew Dora. It wasn't till he did the colours I recognized Faye. Also I wasn't a fan of the hair at first but the way it's drawn on the third panel grew on me, then gradually the other panels grew on me as well.

I wonder if this change is a little directed to the Marten-Shirt thing.  :-P

*Edit to avoid double-posting.

She's appeared once since advising Marten to "go for it" about 80 strips ago.

Linking that comic has reminded me of the Duck Duck... strip right after which my boyfriend and I still do to each other.

Just being painfully honest here: She looks fucking awful....

BUUUUUUUT... I like it. I still think it looks awful for the type of head/face/body... But I think this will bring some hilarious moments so that's why I'm happy this happened.
It's weird to say this when you are talking about a comic character because you can't really see her/him in all angles... But does that hair make Faye look fat?

Yeah, I agree. The relationship's over. Not to mention the fact that we already are well aware that she herself has moved on to other adventures.

Dora having a meltdown over this doesn't seem likely to me.

Question is, is this Monday afternoon, or Saturday afternoon?

Wow, I hate the Faye-hawk. It looks awful. How does a trim get away from someone to the point where head shaving ensues? Are we stuck staring at this for the next two years? Ick. Poor Faye.

Anyway, I rather liked Marten's plaid ensemble from yesterday. It looked nice enough that I briefly wondered whether I should get something like it.

I adore hair that's buzzed in parts and long in other parts. I think she looks great ~ heck since she's gone that far she might as well go all the way and dye it patchwork colors and get some gel for massive spike action. She could be Tank Girl!

She always was a bit like that, though.

Now all she needs to add is a tattoo and bodybuilding.  :-D And knuckles.  Then Coffee of Doom has its own bouncer. Yay ! :-D

How does a trim get away from someone to the point where head shaving ensues?

In my case, the guard was loose and slipped off of the clippers as it was going up the back of my head.

There was really no other option, since the top of my head has no hair either.  I'd never be able to pull off the jar-head thing.  My forelock thingy would consist of three or four strands...

Um... well... I guess it's good Faye likes it? It is pretty terrible, especially from straight on, where it looks like she has some kinda fringe combover. And with Faye's thicker build, I gotta say, it makes her look like a short, husky guy or a stone cold butch. It's weird how with this hair, her curves just make her look stocky and burly instead of feminine.

That, and her usual mode of dress.  Jeans and a... wait, that's not a t-shirt.  Epaulettes?!?  No wonder she looks butch...

Time to dig out the canary yellow dress again!

... And the ushanka. Meanwhile, whose entrance into the shop, right this minute in comic time, would have the most comic potential? I'd pull for either Tai (for reasons covered already in this thread) or Angus. Either one has a stake in the game (assuming Tai is still carrying a butterfly in her stomach for Dora). Then there's Raven, general chaos master, and maybe Sven, the one character who could put Dora off her game. I think any of the other characters would simply react with varying levels of squick.

But first, turkeys, if past practice is any indication.

So, the turkeys generally comment on what's going on (once even the forum, I think).  What will they say?  Something about Marten?  Or will they move on to something completely different?

I'd put money on either
"SO MARTEN FINALLY GOT LAID HUH?"
Or
"THAT MARTEN'S SUCH A DICK"

Also hi i'm new sorry. xD

Well, so she says, but she's made it clear she's doesn't really. More accurate to say she accepts it.

Dora's probably going to be more upset about Faye getting the L word from Angus than about anything Marten does. She and Faye still have the "my daddy issues are bigger than your trust issues" fight to resolve.

Personal boundaries have long been a problem of Dora's when it comes to something that she finds sexy.  This is just another example.

Wow, Dora's just giving off many mixed sexual signals it seems. A few strips later from the first Faye cuddling, she's giving Tai a reality slap of sorts.

That's our Dora!  One big messed up bag of mixed signals and emotions.
