Hello Blog Thread!
Lots of fun, random things happening lately. And some not so fun.
Not fun:
Got my credit card info stolen by some douche on the Wal-Mart website. Bought almost $300 in stuff, overdrew my account, pulled from saving/overdraft protection and got me $20 in fees. Good news is that it's almost resolved. Filed a dispute, got my money back, gotta fill out a crapload of paperwork and switch over all my cards but then it's behind me.
Fun:
Booked honeymoon for a REALLY awesome price- around $1,800 for 6 nights in Jamaica at a resort that has seriously kick-ass reviews (including round trip airfare). All-inclusive except excursions. Leaving in 2 weeks. Woooot!
Challenging but Fun:
I've never been outside the states and I'm completely clueless about international travel. TIME TO LEARN STUFF.
More Fun:
Found out that there is an opening for a full time art teacher at the high school I student taught at!!! I did my internship there and the cooperating teacher requested me back for student teaching placement. MORE WOOT.
Not Fun:
I am a flake and lost the letter of recommendation that she wrote me. She emailed it and my old college switched servers and purged the old one so everything is gone
Fun:
I spoke to her and she said she will look for it and also put a good word in for me with the principal. And I'm name dropping in my cover letter and using her as a reference. So, all hope is not lost.
Also Fun:
At the wedding, everyone told me over and over again that I should start my own business selling my creations. Now that the wedding is over, I've realized that I have no excuse for not making art. I always said I didn't have enough time to do it but if I had time to pull everything together for the wedding, why not now? I've decided to open an Etsy shop with my best friend (who helped me make all my flowers). I am PUMPED for this. Doing fun things and making money at the same time? Hell yes.
Even More Fun:
It is now the beginning of yard sale season here in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Since I have plans to open up a shop, this means I can actually enjoy yard sale-ing and searching for fun treasures to paint/etch/decoupage/deconstruct/reconstruct/etc. Hellooooooo summer of creativity
