Lummer:
I bought one of these last Tuesday:

Basically, it's a very versatile three-channel Preamp in a convenient little box, and fully programmable. This thing will make fly-in gigs and gigs with borrowed backlines so much less of a headache. I can have my whole sound with me, in my pedalboard; no knob-twiddling on amps I'm not familiar with needed ever again as of now. I'm very pleased with that.

Gave it a whirl at rehearsal with the BM band Thursday, and I must say I'm impressed. I had been fiddling with it all wednesday in order to get a feel for it, and arrived at some presets I felt were a fine starting point. As expected, the "California" thing sounded like arse. Just like a real Recto! Very accurate! Thankfully though, the Brit and Tweed emulations sound absolutely fantastic. Tweed can get some REALLY clean cleans as well as nice crunchier things, and the Brit can get really, REALLY nasty.
I just ran it straight into my poweramp; simple and easy. Definitely one of the best investments I've made in ages.

Now I'm just miffed this model has been discontinued. I want one for home recording too, since the built-in speaker sim is actually quite good.

Patrick:
That thing sounds badass from how you've described it. Gotta see where I can find one to test-drive.

I gotta figure out how to fix this string-skipping thing on my guitar. Anyone heard of a buzzstop-type device that you can mount to the bridge posts? I don't want to do any more drilling into an invaluable instrument.

I like big bass and I cannot lie

What guitar are you playing Patrick? And what bridge do you have installed?

Patrick:
it's my hollowbody, and the bridge is a roller bridge. not a Schaller, mind you, although I wish I could take the actual rollers from that and swap them with the rollers on the one I have.
