It's entirely likely that Tai has talked about her piercings, including ones you can't see. She likes to talk about her hood piercing after all. Assuming she hasn't shown them off to the co-workers/friends anyway... This is Tai we are talking about. She dropped trousers in front of Marten when she got the piercing done with no problem.

This, and also she might have some facial ones that are worn on some days and not others

It would be a shocking reveal but only after she hammers out the rough spots.

I remember I got my ears pierced near the end of the summer between years of college, then stretched them out over the course of the school year, then took them out and let them shrink. Kind of tempted to repierce them but I don't know how professional it would be in law school.

I accidentally saw it before I saw today's actual comic. D: My boyfriend was all, "QC is up," and I was all, "Yeah, I know--wait, what's that?" By the time he looked, it was already the proper comic. Imagine my confusion!

Ears are fun to accessorize! I say this as a person who has been too afraid to get her ears pierced because I'd literally faint if I saw the needle. I have anxiety attacks over them. x_x And I know I'd spend all my money on earrings.

Seriously, go on Etsy and look at how many wonderful kinds of earrings there are. Accessorizing is fun, and my guess is that Claire wants to enjoy what so many other females our age have been brave enough to do.

A possibility: "Go where you're not comfortable." Or facing a fear, or some such motivational stuff. Or as one of the more thoughtful forumites pointed out earlier, this might be her first "OK, now it's time to do a girl thing" thing -- although the number of guys getting punctured makes that a shaky generalization indeed.

Eh, me ... I don't elect to get punctured unless it involves the nice Red Cross lady trading me OJ for Type O, but that's just me.

Fear of pain, I'm guessing. I'm always terrified before a tattoo or piercings and build up the pain a lot in my head. Then, usually, it's nowhere near as painful as I thought and makes the getting a little easier since it wasn't as bad as in my head.
Then once I've got it, I'm super delighted and forget all about the pain. Claire may do the same.

Feminine to your perception does not mean feminine in her head, and like Emo said, it's fun! Personally I've considered getting a piercing (outer ear, like a wrap around bit, I have no clue what those are called in this mythic "real world") but watch one or two earrings get ripped out in hand to hand and it puts you off them for good.

Are you talking about an earcuff?  Those don't generally need a piercing, they just wrap around the cartilage wave at the outside edge of your ear.

Given we were talking about piercings, this is a particularly disturbing typo.

 Well put, Zemyla, and a belated "Welcome!"

I seriously doubt Tai would do that. I also wonder how he'll fit that many names in the liner notes.
Jeph's wondering that as I post this.

Multi-page liner notes, or three-point type. Or both, if necessary.
