Got a list of those backside images? I could probably set up a script on my site to do that.

turn off safesearch and you'll see plenty of backside images
But they wouldn't be canon.
I've been wondering... whose backside is your current avatar, and which comic is it from?

Oh, Faye's, but I don't immediately have the comic. I'm not keeping a count, but Jeph seemed to draw her bottom more than those of the rest of the women.

I'm sticking with mine.  There are not enough GOM images in the comic to warrant a server script...

And I knew that was Faye.

Like a disease.

Welcome!
Probably the hardest disease ever to catch.

Not really - you just have to expose yourself to it! Go lots of places where it might be lurking and open yourself up to infection. It's one of those rare diseases where if you pretend to have it, you really are more likely to get it.

It was a pretty big thing for Claire, so you have to give her points for that.

Overcoming a fear is after all one of the most difficult things there is, no matter what it's a fear of.

really feelin this new arc but it seems like Faye's level of pride/sense of achievement is not really commensurate with having been named the mid-late-20s assistant manager of her best friend's coffee shop, where she's been working for ~5 years

We don't know how long Faye's been there, but the comic-time we've seen isn't more than three years and she told Marten she was "new" in town very early on. Speaking of, pretty sure Marten is Faye's bestie right now, not Dora, though she'd be pretty up there.

It's just one more thing in Faye's life that is finally showing healthy progress and growth. She has complained in the past of being a dead-end job, and ok there's not a lot of career progression options from here, but it's still a pay raise with additional responsibility. She has a functional, happy relationship with a boyfriend she loves, she is getting counselling for her emotional issues and on the whole her friendship group seems stable. I expect she's feeling pleased about all those things together.

Welcome, new person!

I see your point.

There's also such a thing as pride in overcoming a post-traumatic freeze up. As part of the pattern of restarting sculpting, making friends, and generally uncurling from her fetal hedgehog position, she's got grounds for pride.

That registers very high on the pithy/insightful scale.  In three words, you summed up Faye's personality for the first 1600 strips or so.

My hat's off to you.

A bit of clever Googling will reveal the answer. :) (Though I'd seen it once long ago because the term popped up around when I started reading QC. It might have been around before that, but the definition I found was from around the same time.)

That's true. Regardless of whether it's a phobia of some sort, or just a fear of change, it takes a GREAT deal to overcome that.

He is.  Tergon was the person who coined UBMEOD, in reference to trying to "sweep back the tide of fanboys" that suddenly showed up in the massive shitstorm.  He's from Oz, and hasn't been in for quite a while...

I applied for the position of UBERMOD but I lack a Masters in Awesomtivity.

Well, no matter.    Head of the Shipping Department is good enough for now.    I mean I can stuff two characters in a crate and FedEx them to Sandwich Island like no one else.    8-)

Don't you have to have three characters in that crate to send to the Sandwich Islands? I thought that was a requirement.

Methods posts are so long they break the layout on my end. That makes him look like a ubermod to me.
