Speaking of metal, here is Aesop from Ludicra and Agalloch's son, and his blog Crud Wizard

Quote
Hello this is a classic record review: Obituary Slowly We Rot. This record is to a lot of people generic death metal. Fast, simple, and continuous riffs, and to back up the riffs is some difficult mechanic drumming. Judging by the song titles, they would be happy to see a worm's guts squeezed out by force, because they would have another interesting song, like the others about bleeding, and hell, and suffocating, and worms getting throttled to death. The cover art is my favorite part, that's pretty awesome, a guy lying on the pavement dead. The music kind of clears all thought from the person listening, and makes them think of somebody stabbing someone who is already dying, to make it so they don't suffer. It's like a good thing, but a bigger bad thing.

He also reviews food places, explores the bay area, gives information on U.S. states, and writes sentences like this:

Quote
I had a burrito, a good burrito.

This cool band started in 1978, their first record though was in 1980, the same year Reagan ruined the united states and his footprint has stayed ever since.

Ezra Lux is probably my favorite nine-year-old ever (I do not think I know any other nine-year-olds but if I ever do they will be up against some pretty stiff competition)

Remember that Google Scribe trick? Where you just keep hitting tab and it will keep autocompleting a run on sentence for you? Well I just tried that and got something surprisingly haunting

I don't know why its not really liked (some of the criticism is based on the Shamelan principle of "too many twists") but its a good read.

Favorite is still Night Watch though.

Its just such a great book.

And yeah, I really liked the truth but it seems to be considered only a moderate success really. I also like Making Money and Unseen Academicals (certainly a lot more than other people did).

I was amazed when I realized how much stuff Tamora Pierce had written. I used to read those in middle school because I had read all the "boy" books in our library.

It isn't too many twists. It's that it's the same twist ad nauseum. I like Pratchett, but I kinda felt like that one was a li'l too narrowly focused for its own good and none of the characters really leaped out at me and became favorites. To be honest, I can't even remember any of the names.
