What I believe the site to be doing is registering how long your mouse hovers over a specific box the longest, and guesses that that is your number and gift (did you follow across and down to your number/gift with your mouse?)
If I'm wrong, someone correct me.

Here's the math thing:
There's a pattern to how the numbers will work:
Take any two digit number. For example, 28.
Subtract the second digit: you will get a multiple of ten. Here, 20
The first digit will be the number/10. We can call this digit X. Here x=2.
That makes your current number (the two digit number minus the second digit) 10x. (20 again)
Subtracting x from 10x yields 9x. (18)
All of the multiples of 9 are the same gift.

OHHHHHHH now I get it! Thank you GenericName. After I read your explanation, for a while I was still confused because I realized that every number was going to be a multiple of 9, but that didn't explain why the gift was still different every time. Finally I found out that the gifts change number every time you do it >_<.
