You get suspended for 105 days for being a crazy nerd?

The 105 day suspension seems fairly ridiculous. I got into a tussle once and they only suspended us for the rest of the week.

Running the numbers.

Goddamnit.  I had just done a good job of realizing I'm not special and I'm not better than everyone else, and then you go and show me a bunch of shit that I'm actually really good about being aware of.  Now I'm all saying, "Shit, I wish those other people would get their act together."

I'm not better than they are!

These sorts of things annoy me a little. I mean, it's a good thing that they are donating food, but why wait for people to answer a quiz? Why not just give hungry people as much food as you can?

Because of that dilemma, half the time these sorts of things are a hoax (this one looks legit, but I'm thinking of stuff like email forwards that claim the cancer society will donate more money based on how many people get the email.) The other half of the time, well you have to bear in mind that the sponsors paying for the donations almost always have a donation limit that isn't mentioned to people taking the quiz (or shopping there if it's a donation per shopper, or whatever.) So after the donation limit has been reached (and it's usually reached pretty quickly) then everyone else taking the quiz is just wasting their time and erroneously thinking they are helping fight hunger.

This belongs in this thread.

Dead fly art.

http://thechive.com/2009/10/dead-fly-art-surprisingly-hilarious-15-photos/

(When I was 7 or 8 I actually wrapped up a dead fly in tiny strips of medical tape and made a tiny paper Egyptian sarcophagus to put him in.  God I was a weird kid.)

The fly art weirded me out, I saw that floating somewhere. It definitely took some dedication, though.

I'm actually quite surprised that they were convicted.  I thought that the precedent was ruling in favor of religious beliefs.  Though, it does seem like a bit of an activist judge.  I'm not saying this was not the right decision (because that is a terrible thing that happened as a result of the parents' religious convictions), I'm just surprised that the decision is flying, legally (though, they're appealing, so it might end up getting overturned).
