So we're two films into our five film week, and on-set photographs from the first one have been upped!

Titled "The Articulation of Alan Smith", it's a black-and-white short about an older couple returning from a first date, only for the mans off-screen and drastically ill brother to ruin it with his controlling ways. However, all is not as may seem when it comes to the brothers identity.

And here's me doing my job as D.O.P with the writer/director.

And me pondering how the hell you light a black-and-white film.

And on another note my hair hasn't been cut in almost seven months, so that's gonna' need chopping soon.

/combination of the Blog/Photo/Hair thread into one post.

Utah is my least favorite state.

Mostly it looks like this:

Sure there are parts which look like this:

Arches national park, so pretty they put it on their license plate.
And it is pretty. But in the end it is rocks. And it is hot, and miserable:

Note how the people not in the shade are dying.
They are not alone, then my car died:

I was stuck in the nearest town, Moab:

3 days to fix my car? I did the sensible thing, rented a car and spent the weekend in Colorado/New Mexico.

Rugged, natural beauty? I'll take Yellowstone, thank you.

In the 70's my family broke down in Utah too. Ugh, we were hating on it. Still I ended up seeing all of the lower 48 states before my 13th birthday. I think Utah was top of the hate stack.

aww my cat does the same thing and it's so cute; she puts her head on the pillow and everything

i think my cat thinks she's a person though. she's rarely content unless she can see whatever you're doing from your perspective i.e. perching on your shoulder.

she's like "hey, i'm a a person, why is everything so tall? let me up there, this is stupid down here"

I've always loved it in Utah. Doubt I'd want to live there, but it's definitely one of my favorite places to visit, South and North.

Also though, I was on this road trip with a friend from China and I had to explain Mormons to her. First encounter? We stopped in a Walmart just across the border and there was a display of, for lack of a better way to describe it "stockpiling supplies" Huge containers of non perishable food and shelving systems on which to store it. It caught me off guard and I laughed, and then I had to wait until we were out of the store to explain it to her.

I think all the people were nice to me. We went to the Mormon church in Salt Lake, so of course we got approached there, or I did at least, her, not so much. But in Moab the people were friendly, we met a member of the rainbow family and his dog in Provo, they were nice. He needed a ride but we had no room in the car.

To those few of you I do have on facebook, apoligies for the repitition.

Hannah (graphite - I know by now most of you can figure that when I say hannah I'm talking about my girlfriend not the lovely Sydneyite, but I still feel the need to clarify for some reason) recently moved into a new place, and her Pirate themed house warming was a week or so ago.

I was pretty pleased with this costume, considering I threw it togeather in 20 minutes. The sword was made by my dad when he was a teenager, the vest was my grandfathers, and the shark's tooth neckace my elder brothers. I also staightened some of my hair for the first time. not sure if I liked the effect or not.

Hannah's pirate wench costume was...impressive... to say the least

(the tricone hat is real, but is not mine)

This picture of me is from April 5, 1984 on my first birthday. The bull in this picture (his name was Curly) was born on the same day as myself. He got a lot bigger by the time he finished growing and ended up being abnormally large even for a Simmental. The old man in the picture is Jesse King, my grandfather on my mother's side. He was full blood Cherokee and died when I was 6 if I recall correctly. It may have been a bit later, several years of my younger life kind of all mesh into the same lump of memory if you know what I mean. Either way that was pretty traumatic cause he was awesome.

You can tell Curly is a bull by looking at his ears obviously.
