I had actually forgotten that tail dockng was even a vaguely done thing until now. though in its defence my family used to bread
schipperkes which are adorable little things but not the best designed of creatures, most of them had their tails docked until the last litter we had which we decided to leave on, and when they got to adult size they had the cutest curley tails that actually coiled all the way round so it touched their backs. When they got excited (which was pretty much whenever anything happened) they would attempt to wag their tails, without much succsess, but moving them just enough side to side that after a few years they had all rubbed bald patches in their fur - one with a tail that sat particularly low on its back actually managed to rub itself raw with its own tail.
It was only a minonour problem, and was easy to heal up and relativly easy to prevent it happening again, so all up, probably still not worth the pain of docking the tails.
