I wish I had pics of the Twin Towers we made out of paper and beer cans. We even made a paper plane and taped it to one of them. There were pieces of paper that said "NEVER FORGET" all over the apartment, posted in random places.

I was at a 9/11 party as well, only it was a) also a going away party for a good friend who's leaving to Spain for 4 1/2 months and b) it was approximately five blocks from the World Trade Center, on a roof in TriBeCa, with a picturesque few of the 9/11 memorial lights.

My best friend lost his virginity (he had been purposely putting that off for quite some time now, much to the chagrin of his girlfriend, for lack of an epic enough way to do it) that night, on that roof while staring at the lights.

This. Honestly, waiting for a momentous occasion is a pinch odd in and of itself, so when you compound it with the 9/11 thing it does come a cross as an unusual choice when looked at in a vacuum. It's just a fairly reasonable observation. That said, the memorial lights are pretty enough to make me understand why someone would choose something like that for a backdrop. They are rather striking, so I rather doubt someone would choose that setting just for the virtually non-existant humor value. Doing the deed with novelty value as part of your motivation seems to kind of run counter to the kind of mindset I would expect someone who values their virginity to have anyway.

Honestly, I'd rather have lost it already, just so I could have enjoyed the experience more, but maybe other people's first time didn't consist of them trying to figure out how to do everything.

Oh, hey, wait, I missed the selfish comment. I don't think it's selfish to have sex on 9/11; that'd be silly. The primary reason I didn't have sex on 9/11 is because I was at a family reunion that night and that'd be hells of icky. To make your girlfriend wait 'till you want to do it? A pinch selfish, but it's the kind of selfish that everybody's entitled to. It's your body and all that.
