I have a pair of awesome blue Docs. They look almost like denim, sorta. I almost never wear them though, as I've gotten too used to my adidas sneakers.

I have been looking for a pair of boots that look semi-feminine and work with thicker ankles without making me looking like I have a cankle thing going on. Ideas?

Guys, I am looking for some boots. I don't know what my budget is yet, but I am going to hazard a guess at "as cheap as I can find" (>$300). Basically I am looking for some black leather boots that are reasonably weather-proof (as in, I can wear them walking around outside when it is cold and wet, even if I was not meant to hike in the snow in them or they are not Winter Proof or whatever). I prefer heels on my boots (acceptable) (also acceptable), and probably rubber soles. I know I can just google all of this, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could check out online that you might have had good shoe experience with, because any ol' ebay auction doesn't tell me shit about the quality of what I am looking at.

Once upon a time, I found a pair of boots that were something like this, except knee-high and with a much more refined silhouette. I wish I could have got them, but they were like $5k. Apparently no cheaper versions of anything similar exist. Alas.

Zappos is probably a good place to look. I probably suck at recommendations for specific boots, but these look alright, and will apparently keep you dry. And these remind me of the ones you link to, but I don't know about the weather-proof thing.

But yeah, they have about 1000 boots in total in the black, knee-high leather boots for women and black, mid-calf leather boots for women categories, so you might find something good.

I don't have personal experience with Zappos, but I've always heard tons of good stuff about it and often cursed that they didn't ship internationally, other than to Canada.

Hey ladybug! I have been using a thing called hopshopgo, it is a part of paypal that lets you pick from overseas websites and someone in the US will buy and ship them to you! Pretty handy.

Thanks for the tip. I knew of JetCarrier (only ships to Scandinavian countries), but hadn't heard of that before. Sad thing, though, is that for the first 0.5kg it's like $42.00, which is way too much for most of the stuff I want to buy :/ But I'll keep it in mind, because if I ever actually graduate and get a proper job and want to buy something relatively expensive, it'll probably be worth it since it will probably be even more expensive in Norway anyways.

One of Sam's Canadian friends gave me a legit pair of snow boots, (not dissimilar from these) which is nice because the only other shoes I have that are even slightly suitable were my Wolverine black leather steel-caps that I was talking about a few months ago in here. When I've worn them in the snow, they're still freezing cold when I go to put them on the next day, even if I leave them directly under a heating duct.

Sorel makes pretty nice winter boots. I have a pair. They look like this:

After an accident involving my favourite pair of jeans and the asphalt, I am in need of new pants.
Sadly, I don't know where to find the kind of jeans I like, except at American Apparel. And it's 75$. They are called the Slim Slacks. (these)

Anyone knows where I could find slim jeans like those somewhere? At a lower price if possible?

I'm talking about those things. I am not a fan of that.

We don't have any Hot Topic in Laval/Montreal. The equivalent would be D-Tox (where I bought my previous pair of jeans), but they are not carrying them for a while. Don't ask me why, they just aren't.

I have a pair of 510s. They are great, but I am searching for something else. For the sake of wearing something diferent, and not the same style every day. I'll check out the 514s.

Incidentally it's pretty weird that he singled out Uniqlo about shitty pre-fab fades, considering it's one of the few places where you can get decent-quality raw denim for a reasonable price.

If you're talking about fit, this makes no sense to me. Not only is it counter-intuitive, it is counter to my own experience. I'm a pretty skinny dude so I used to trade pants with a few of my female friends and while it's fun for a larf, their pants definitely didn't include any room for my junk. What makes or brands are you talking about?

What makes or brands are you talking about?

Both the dude and the lady pants are from PacSun, I guess their make is Bullhead (if Bullhead is a make).  And the reason I find the lady pants more comfortable is that they leave plenty of room for my junk.  It is indeed counter-intuitive, I have a guy friend who has worn them both and agrees with me, but other people I tell this to give me raised eyebrows

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your observation is more indicative of crappy design at Bullhead than it is of skinny jeans in general.

I've worn some pretty damn comfy girl pants but it really depends on the brand.

Forever 21 girl skinny jeans are great on dudes. Same goes for Tripp (they make stuff other than bondage-inspired hammer pants and it's not bad at fuckin' all). Pac Sun is of the same family, really.

You can order Hot Topic pants online. For the most part, they will be Levi's.

Anyway, I want to buy my boyfriend a Saddleback Leather wallet. I'm torn between the medium bi-fold and the large bifold. This is the only place I can think of where people might know. I half-assedly tried finding reviews of both and I didn't get much information.

The reason I'm so torn is because my boyfriend thinks he wants the large one, except he dislikes the bulkiness of his current wallet, and wants something more compact, that he can carry in his front pocket. Anyone I've talked to thinks I should just get him that one because that is what he says he wants, but knowing how much he dislikes his current wallet, I'm inclined to get him the smaller one. I know he will be excited to get either, but I'd rather he be only slightly less excited(We are talking like maybe -5 excitement points) to get the one that he isn't exactly leaning towards(he does like both), than him be completely excited about the large one for a week and then start to dislike how big and bulky it is, and want a new one in a few months. Make sense?

Like I said, I've tried to find reviews of each, and the ones of the large wallet say that it is a bit big and bulky, one going so far to say that it is best suited for a bag or cargo pants. Does anyone here have one? Are they really bulky?

My wallet is about the size of the larger one. I wear neither cargo pants nor skinny jeans and I never had a problem with it. It took me about a week to get used to it, but I guess that's with every new wallet?

I've never seen these IRL, but from the pictures I would certainly prefer the smaller one for the reasons you discuss.  How you dress it up to avoid initial disappointment is tricky, though.

You could try to find out whether it is the dimensions of his present wallet he dislikes, or how thick it gets when filled up (which could be worse with a smaller one, depending just what he puts in it).

I have fairly recently gone from carrying a billfold to carrying one of the saddleback small wallets and it's been one of the best things I've done.   First and foremost its caused me to slim down to the amount of shit I carry.   I keep my license, two credit cards, my health insurance card, my debit card, and my border's reward card and that's it.  All the other miscellaneous cards I used to carry around I've put in my glovebox.    To carry cash I bought a burberry money clip (I got mine off of ebay because I'm a cheap bastard). It's taken a little getting used to, but I so much prefer it now.

I used to always, always, always take my wallet out of my pocket every time I got in the car.  Sitting on a big thick wallet under one ass cheek not only hurts after awhile but it throws your hips and spine out of whack.  I can't tell you how many times I got out of my car and forgot to take my wallet with me.  Plus I wear suits to work so its nice with the smaller wallet to not have a big lump in my back pocket.

Just a thought.

Edit for the classy:

See how well that works? Both can go in one pocket, or keep the cash in the front, and money in the back (what I usually do) or even in a jacket breast pocket.

Absolutely agreeing with the above post. Nobody needs the amount of shit most folks carry in their wallets. I've got one of those Fossil money clips/card wallets which holds four cards plus cash, and I get along just fine, and as someone who does sport rather tight pants it is definitely a marked improvement over anything else I've tried, and I don't see myself going back anytime soon. I take it that seeing as he's told you what he wants, then you are not going to be giving surprise presents, so maybe just explain to him yr reasoning for preferring to buy him the smaller wallet and he will come around? Nobody should be disappointed to get anything from Saddleback, and yr logic is sound.

Were we talking about shaving in this thread earlier?  I can't remember where it was.  Anyway, point is that I get it now.  I've been shaving with a straight razor for the past few weeks, and it's been a lot of fun.  I'm not gonna lie and say that it's the best shave I've ever had or any of that shit, and I do occasionally nick or straight up cut myself accidentally, but it has turned shaving my neck from something I gotta do into something that is kinda cool.

Not sure I am that enthusiastic about it to get a $150+ proper straight razor though, no matter how purty they look.  Maybe later if I stick with this and it feels right to lay more money down on it?  For now though I will probably just stick with this shitty but functional WAHL with disposable blades instead of having to maintain a more upmarket piece of kit, especially seeing as I'd have to buy a strop and all that jazz too.

Yeah I want to eventually transition to using a straight razor but I don't think I'd ever be into it enough to get a strop and all that stuff, as far as I know there's no difference in quality of the shave, it's pretty much just the old-timey fetishists who go to all that trouble. Most barber shops that do shaves are using the straight razors with disposable blades these days, as it's easier and more hygienic. I've got my eye on this one.

I just checked with my girlfriend and hairdressers and barbers are not actually legally allowed to use straight razors with fixed blades. They're apparently too dangerous and they spread blood-born pathogens too easily. If they have straight razors then they are the ones with the disposable blades.

Oh hey, you can get fancy ones that take blades?  Nice!  My one only cost me something like $17 because it's just a hairdresser/barber's one, not a fancy-like one.  (on the pack it was actually called a barber's scissor, I think.  Kind of odd)  I think if I want to get a fancier one I'll just get something like what you linked, Dovey.  I don't really like any of the ones in that store, but I do like the idea of eventually getting a nicer one that isn't $200+ and won't give me some kind of rust/metal-fatigue-based blood disease.

I may actually get a safety razor at some point to see if they are still fun to use, but I think at the moment the unsafe nature of the straight razor is part of the fun.  It's not something I can just do on autopilot, I have to concentrate and pay attention so that I don't wind up cutting myself too much.

Although holy dang some of the proper straight razors look pretty great, and there is a plain Dovo one that is only $100.  Hmmmm

Hahahaha $17.00 hahahahaha.

Man, hairdressing and barbering tools are fuck off expensive. The scissors my lady uses were about $350 when she got them. We've seen some stuff that is straight up folded japanese steel for about $3500.00. The straight razors even with disposable blades are  a couple of hundo easy.

Now that's funny. Fools and their money, I guess.

Man I have no need for scissors but I would totally buy a set of Japanese folded steel kitchen knives had I the cash to spare.

Oh man straight razors are expensive for a goddamn reason and it is because they are fuck off amazing. Closest shave you will ever have and if you ever bother to try and figure the cost over a longish period of time they save you a ridiculous amount of money.

This one here is the one I actually want. Of course I won't be getting it for a long while due to other priorities but hey, it's lovely and fantastic. some of them get silly expensive but it's partially because you're paying for collector's fees at that point.
