also if you buy jeggings with the sole purpose of wearing them with like a long top and boots (which is the way in which i see them being worn about 90% of the time over here, like so) then they look exactly the fucking same as jeans except probably a lot more comfortable so i have absolutely no idea what the problem is

I think "jeggings are terrible" stands, then.

Maybe I will go to a store and try some on and take photos. Then we will see.

So what you are saying is that you consider yourself the standard for what looks good on everyone, and if it doesn't look good on you, it's shit?

Katie is a fashion icon, durr.

Personally, They annoy me more because "jeggings" is a fucking stupid word, than the fact that they look stupid.

But if "we will see" that "jeggings are terrible" by Katie's "[trying] some on and [taking] photos", are we not to understand that she imagines that how they look on her should set a standard?

Alison - ignore them; those jeggings (horrid word, though) look fine on you.  And considerably better than they look on my wife, I have to admit...

Thanks for the compliment Paul, but my name is Andy!

Also Tommy, I think what Allison is saying that I think Katie is trying to prove that jeggings are universally awful by proving that they might look bad on her. That is the thing.

I want some jeggings simply because wearing jeans in the middle of summer is a total bitch but I like the way they look.
I don't have any though because I am too lazy to go shopping, and I already have like a million pairs of jeans that fit me great.

Are jeggings just leggings that are meant to look like denim? (I have never been clear on this point.) I quite like patterned leggings but I look appalling in them, my thighs do not need exposing.

Does anyone know where I could get some decent dress patterns? I'd like to try and sew something simple, maybe just a shift dress to start with.

May, pretty much, but I have seen some good ones that actually 90% look like jeans with the yellow stitching at the bottom and the whole belt and zipper shenanigans, just they're super duper stretchy.

Jeggings and other textured legging look terrible on most people. The ones that do get away with it could get away with mostly anything, so it's not a very good benchmark to use. Seen girls making horrible MC Hammer parachute pants look good, next to that jeggings are a relative snap.

I think I may actually try to find some jeggings, actually. I have a pair of skinny jeans that fit ok, but just not in the knees. Like, I can't bend them all the way. The only reason I have a pair of skinnies in the first place is so that I have pants to wear with my boots and my black slim cut ones don't fit in my combat boots very well and I don't wear black pants with brown boots. (Unless I'm wearing only black and brown, then it's ok. But mostly I wear one or the other with other colors.) And I always have that problem with skinny jeans because I have fat thighs and large calves and am generally just bigger boned than your stereotypical average American 20something.

Also, Andy, those jeggings don't look like jeggings at all in that photo, but regardless I think they look pretty good.

yeah that is pretty much exactly the same reason why i have never in my life been able to fit into a pair of skinny jeans, nor will i ever be able to. even though i'm pretty tiny and about a size 2 in my waist, my knees and my calves are just way too huge. the reason alternatives like patterned leggings exist is because some women just have extremely limited options, guys.

Also, mostly I prize comfort over fashion. Mostly that comfort means being able to move properly and being warm/cool. I take long strides and I like being able to walk properly! Also, I like wearing boots when it's cold as fuck and want to be able to squeeze some thermals under my pants if necessary! This works in all of my pants except my skinnies and yet skinnies are what I wear with boots.

I very much dislike jeggings. First of all, the name is awful. Second, they market them to fatties (like myself) and that is just the worst idea ever. We should not be allowed to wear anything like skinny jeans, so few of us look good in them at all. I know that I would look like 10 lbs of sausage in a 5 lb sausage casing in even the best-fitting jeggnigs.

That said, Andy, you look great in them. I think having them cuffed might make you look a little short, but who cares? You and I are the same height, and I know it's hard to make myself look noticeably short to others, because I tower over half the people I know.

If they are comfortable to the person wearing them, awesome. Go for it. There are worse fashion faux pas to worry about. For example - women who wear shirts with empire waists, or similar, with the line going across the boobs instead of under them. What the hell? How do you not notice this?

I need to buy basically a complete new wardrobe because literally everything I own is riddled with holes. I don't know what to do at this point, my clothing choices seem limitless but nothing is actually exciting to me in the world of fashion. Or at least nothing that seems new or interesting or not infinity billion dollars and out of Japan. I'm still enjoying the Americana thing but like, I don't really know where to go and that feels kind of done to me, anyway. Mostly I've just been dressing like a cowboy, but that's still same old same old. Ideas?

This is my suit for my wedding, probably.  I'm still looking at the shoulders wondering if they're too big (maybe a halfpinky width off my shoulder).  But that's not why i am asking you guys for advice, I don't want just the plain white shirt/black tie thing so what are so better ideas to make the suit really pop.  Pale blue shirt? What tie?

I'm not good at this and this will be my go to suit.

Yes on the light blue shirt. What color is your lady going to be wearing? You could get a tie that matches her dress.

I think the suit looks fine, and I def agree with matching the bridal colours unless they're like, pink or purple or bright yellow.
A light blue shirt and a dark blue or brown tie would look good.

That suit looks like it fits you really well! It looks like you might want to get someone to hem the trousers by about an inch, but that could just be the angle of your photo. All around A-.

(A+ is for getting a vest.)

Try a black shirt with the black tie! Some people like it. I dunno if you will.
