no, buy your own clothes

Totally different context but that's reminding me of this awesome quote from Harrison Ford I saw the other day:

Q: Would you give the fedora over to Shia LeBeouf in the next Indiana Jones?
A: What are you talking about? It's mine.

yeah andy talk about the epitome of backhanded compliments

It's stupid.

Don't get me wrong, some art fashion is really cool, but this is pretty garish stuff.

My coworker knows this girl (and I know the guy in the xylophone coat) and her stuff, while not something that's an everyday wear, is pretty awesome.

Got my mackinaw cruiser, it fits a little baggier than I would like (got a 42) but I'm not sure sizing down will give me long enough arms. Also I got the navy. Also it looks sick, but maybe the jacket just fits pretty baggy?

Thanks for linking that, some of those are brilliant.  That being said, the idea is easy to copy and I'm willing to bet money that American Apparel and Urban Outfitters will both have downmarket versions within a year.  In retrospect, it's kind of funny they haven't been done already given that the silly tattoo sleaves have been around for a while.

So, mostly my dressing up style is 50s and 60s. I don't really do bracelets or rings, although I have been known to take my watch off on occasion. With this in mind, what do I wear with this dress?

I was trying it on with the only two pairs of shoes I own that I thought would be halfway decent with it. The grey suede are in the pictures in the photothread here.

Sorry for the hanging straps showing. Whatevs.

I disagree, I'd say that with the gold shoes you don't really need anything else. Then again I hate half the stuff posted in here and am mystified by the rest so I clearly have no style.

Those are so pretty! The black enamel one is great.

I love bracelets too, but between my textures thing with ADHD and my OCD thing with stuff on my hands, I just can't do them. They bother me too much. I can wear them over long sleeves alright, but unfortunately that almost always looks silly.

Do not get me wrong, jewellery on other people can look great (the other day on the bus I was lusting after this woman's silver bangle set and the whole pearl-and-simple silver accessories thing she had going) but I cannot stand wearing it. I do buy things occasionally but having stuff around my neck or something dangly on my wrist or things flapping around my ears is just uncomfortable.

Lunchy, I know what you mean. Other than my earrings (which are not that fancy and/or cumbersome) and a necklace (probably not made of metal), I can't stand wearing most jewelry. I love bracelets, but most don't fit and I can't stand having things on my wrists. I also can't wear rings anymore because they bother me. And I don't really like most necklaces, so I only really wear a few and only 2 of them are some kind of metal and they're the two I wear the least. I love jewelry on other people, though, and I like looking at it...

In high school I used to wear big huge costume jewelery, the more obnoxious the better. I kinda grew out of that a bit, but there's no denying the power of a necklace or bracelet or earrings or just a ring to make an outfit better. It helps when one of your good friends sells a lot of jewelery I actually like. I almost always have one of my key necklaces on unless the shirt is low because then if I do the key gets lost in my cleavage. Not a good look.

Man, I feel lazy and underdressed if I don't put a little effort into jewelry. Big floofy hair means earrings have to be biggish and dangly to even be seen, and I love cuff bracelets more than is probably recommended. I used to switch out necklaces a lot, but I have a swirly bone one that doesn't come off now, so I've cut back there (which is probably good if I'm already doing big earrings and chunky bracelets).

i am trying to learn how to wear jewelry, for years and years i pretty much wore only t-shirts and jeans every single day and it is only in the last year or so that i've attempted to branch out even slightly from that. right now i have one necklace i wear fairly regularly that i got for like $15 from a potter in guelph and a pair of nice labradorite stone plugs for my ears which is about it (you can see both of them in this picture). there's a shop i really adore in toronto that has the loveliest handmade stone/wood/bone/whatever jewelry for super cheap and i may do a bit of shopping there later in the year when it warms up slightly and i start wearing clothes that actually show my neck again, for now i will probably hold off because i am unbelievably moronic with money and my credit card bill is really frightening yet again.

I am pretty lucky in that no matter what I wear, fine jewelery (e.g. gold/silver, diamonds, sapphire, etc.) looks pretty good on me. My everyday necklace is a pretty sturdy gold chain with a little heart pendant, but every once in a while I'll switch it up for some kind of costumey deal that I got at a cheap accessories store. I can't wear earrings though, because they look bad on my ears. I love my nose ring though. So much.

The trick to wearing jewelery is finding something you are comfortable with. People only look ridiculous when they don't know how to wear that giant enamel bracelet or big flashy ring. My mother and grandmother have the most insanely flashy, unique jewelery collections I've ever seen, but they work it. Especially my grandma. Lady knows her accessories.

I'm pretty sure that my supervisor has some Louboutins. I didn't want to stare too closely because there is already enough gossip going around about me having a crush on her ankles (you mention, one time, that someone has nice ankles and suddenly you're in love with them), but they definitely looked like it.
