Yes I do find Autumn (doesnt that leave a better feeling coming off your tongue than 'Fall'? Its like saying Film instead of Movie) is the ultimate fashion season. In winter you are to primarily concerned about keeping warm and are kind of locked down to one or two jacket/coats. And Spring is focused on the impending summer, everyone is racing to wear less. Then summer, well Im in Montreal, so it brings out the hottest kinds of girls in the shortest kinds of summer dresses, but really its all about wearing less, and less is not more when it comes to fashion.
Neither should you! I disagree with pretty much everything in this statement.
I feel as though you never quite read what I typed or those who came before typed. All little black dresses aside, women tend to wear a few more layers and own quite a few more shoes, as such their clothes while individually weaker, are more likely to hit a thrift shop intact. Mens shoes typically get worn until they expire for example, pants as well.
And if you can reliably walk in to a thrift shop and get nice stuff every time, all the power to you, but most people cannot, not would not, or dont, but CANNOT. Quite simply, if something is nice, why would it be in a thrift shop? You are looking for the accidents and the exceptions, of which depending where you are and how many other thrift shoppers there might not be many of.
As well, its generally old fashion, and while new fashions are typically inspired by the fashions of about 20 years prior (bell bottoms in the 90's, florescent colours in the 00's, grunge in the 10's) they are also modernised. They will fit differently or are constructed differently. For instance, the bell bottoms of the 90's had low waists, yet the ones from the 70's had high waists.
Whereas you walk into a store selling new clothes, they will be fashionably current be it something new altogether, or an updated take on an old idea, but most importantly all the little details will be modernised as well.
And perhaps when I said accessories we just misunderstood, women tend to accessories with layers and additional clothing, men tend to wear fewer pieces then let headbands, or hats, or bandanas or chains or 'sneaks' or tattoos or piercings do the accessorizing. Women tend to accessories to make it part of a whole, an outfit the sum of its parts. Men tend to just add things on top of staples. Before you jump up and down calling me out, notice my liberal use of 'tend' or 'may' or 'typically', because there are always exceptions, but the greatest percentiles of each should be pretty accurate to what Ive stated.
