In pockets:

iPhone (doubles as a cell phone and iPod)
In-ear earbuds in small leather pouch
Lighter
Burt's Bees lip balm
flash drive
Wallet
Keys

In bag, when I choose to carry it:

Bottle of water
Umbrella
A few books (usually at least one fiction and one non-fiction)
Condoms

You guys have managed to turn the Fashion Thread into a list thread.

To bring this a little bit more fashion-wards, I carry all my stuff in a backpack these days because my oversized blue handbag is still too small for all of those things. The backpack is grey and covered in big pink roses and does not match anything I wear - often I am wearing a dress with hundreds of small flowers on it and sometimes flowery shoes as well and I just look ridiculous.

I never carry things in my pockets. In fact, most of the time I don't even have pockets!

Here's my current list (although it changes every day. I usually change my bag quite often too):

Sunglasses
Umbrella
Gum
Phone
Ipod
Two kinds of lipgloss
Pouch nr 1: cash.
Pouch nr 2: Q-tips, mineral foundtation, compact mirror, eyebrow gel.
Pouch nr 3: two mechanical pencils, lead, fountain pen, ink refills, eraser, two colour brushes.
Sketchbook
Cardholder
Birth control pills
Two keychains
Tissues
Lacy stockings (oh, that's where they went!)
Student ID card
Four rings
Necklace
Hand lotion
Screwdriver
Novel
Bandaids
Bike bell

... This is my medium sized bag :/

Pockets hold wallet, phone, and chapstick. Ipod and keys clip on belt loops, and my water bottle is really too big for a bag, so I just carry it. What is with you people carrying around the dingdang kitchen sink? Like you are living out of your bag or something. Don't you ever go home?

DEAR FASHION THREAD

I am looking for a new wallet. I saw one in a shop that was fuckin' perfect, but it didn't have a price on it and I was kinda broke, so I figured I would get it the next week after I got paid but it wasn't there any more. I have been looking all over the place to try and find something like it, but I just can't. I am looking for something like this except something less cutesy and more grown up. The zipper closure rather than a flap is more what I am looking for.

I have looked in actual stores, online, and no luck. I have even tried etsy, but when I look at wallets they are either coin purses or wallets without a zip pocket for change, or is a small wallet similar to what I have now that I am sick of. Help please?

Also, my pants normally have my wallet in one back pocket, my phone in the other, connected to my earphones which are either in my ears on in the front pocket of the corresponding side, and my keys in the other front pocket. Bam. My bag generally has a multitude of pens in it (just in case) my lip balm, hair ties, old receipts and shopping lists and train tickets (and other scraps of paper). I generally put my wallet and keys and that shit into the bag when I use it, but the phone normally stays in the pocket because I am constantly listening to music on it.

If I'm going out and not carrying my purse, all I take is my ID and credit card/cash (which I put in a little card holder thing), my phone, chapstick, and keys. These all fit in my pockets easily, small as they tend to be.

Hannah, did you try asking the store clerk? Unless it's a resale shop or something like that, they should at least be able to order another one for you. Or maybe even tell you what brand it was. I see wallets like that one you linked quite a bit, but I honestly couldn't tell you where I've seen them. I know this sounds weird, but comic and record stores (locally owned ones especially) have cool wallets sometimes. I got my current one at a comic book store.

At least Kris has a screwdriver. If you're gonna lug a sack of crap around I can at least get behind things that are kinda useful sometimes. I just have my keychain w/ a tiny pen (easier to use than you might think; it stays together via a magnetic cap), a phone, a slim wallet and this li'l guy.

My current travelling setup is

left front pocket:
Small Moleskine notebook
Gel-ink Pen
Passport

right front pocket:
Billfold

Right back pocket:
keys (if i'm not carrying a bag)

I imagine that'll change once I get my phone working

and in my bag right now:

pens/sharpies
Purell
handkerchief
sunglasses
prescription glasses case
spare cash/change
headache pills
phone charger
iPod cable
laptop
keys (on a clip)
two sets of earbuds
bookmark (just finished my book, left it behind today)
1/4" headphone jack adaptor
Green tea Kit-Kat box, empty

Dear Fashion Thread,

I traversed damn near all of Shibuya and Harajuku on my epic Tokyo jeans-search, tried on some dope-ass Eternal 811s and Momotoro shrink-to-fits, but a) they both cost more than Ľ20,000 and I only brought Ľ21,000 to cover the whole three days I was there and neither pair was quite perfect enough to justify dropping quite that much dosh.

Also as a Westerner who carries a bit more around the middle I had a pretty tough time actually finding good sizes :c

In the end I was all fukkit and copped some Uniqlo skinny-straights for like Ľ3,800 on the way to the airport. Pretty decent, although I worry about how long they'll last.

My best friend and roommate is 5'6'' and has a 0 US womens dress size.  The ONLY jeans he has are from his father's business trips to Japan and Singapore.  I bought a large button up in Harujuku a few years ago and it is a bit snug on me.  Smaller than a US medium.

In my pockets I always have:

(1) home keys - otherwise I'd lock myself out
(2) phone - always in touch, me
(3) university card - swipe access to work, weekdays only.

Which pocket varies according to fit of trousers.

Anything else, when required (wallet, etc), is in various pockets if I have them, or my rucksack (stuff to go to and from work, like lunch box).  Big keys (car and a few others) hanging by a dog tag on a belt loop.

Why do you people carry so much shit all the time?

On an average day I carry:
Keys
Wallet
Phone

On a day when I know I'm going to be doing some Serious Shit™ I carry a different loadout:
Keys
Wallet
Phone
Pocket Knife
Leatherman Wave Multitool

On days when I know I'm going to be doing things I hate doing(collecting rent, dealing with large sums of money)
.380 Remington.

Because you only get held up by a guy with a knife once.

That's a firestorm, not a Remington, even though it shows up on the search for Remington .380. Apparently Remington did make a .380 pistol back in the 1920s, though. No need for the derail to go farther, I was just curious.

I was wondering how long before someone said they carry a gun, though.

Lunchy, that seems to be true from the pictures of all the "fashionable" people I see. Then again, you would have to pay me to wear clothes like a lot of "fashionable" people do.

It actually physically shocked me when you said that. I always think I'm completely down with the differences between the UK and US but things like this remind me that I actually just assume you guys are all just living the same life as people here.

Also, SWitty, Leatherman Wave high five! o/

I want to get it engraved, because I'm not yet cool enough to have a toolbox code (theatre types with lots of their own tools have a code in the colourcoding system but one single Leatherman isn't sufficient to earn one).

For the most part, we are, just with Obama and the Constitution rather than (whatever the new PM's name is) and the Queen. In fact, there's actually more violent crime per capita in the UK than the US by last count, so it isn't like there's a running gun battle every time you go to the store (although it would make it more interesting). Not many people carry guns unless it is part of their job, it actually surprised me that he mentioned carrying a gun, and it surprises me whenever I see someone that I think to be carrying. And I live in the "wild west". The part that would probably shock you more is that in the more rural areas, it would probably be hard to find a house that doesn't have at least one rifle and one shotgun, gun ownership and hunting are that ubiquitous.

I need to either get a new Leatherman or find my old one, and figure out how to fit it into my normal everyday carry. There are quite a few times that I would find it useful, but I'm iffy on how fashionable having it in that little belt carrier it comes with would be.

Yeah I am from the South and I know a LOT of people who have their concealed weapons permit, keep a gun in their vehicle, collect guns, go shooting for fun, etc etc. I had never even seen any sort of firearm in real life until last year when some friends took me to a shooting range. It was scary.

Hire me QC!

I have an interview this Friday for a position as an office administrator with a large solar installation company. Seeing how I really really want this job and have never been to a very formal-dress interview, I could use some help. I need something that is fancyish, not too tight/baggy, and will not reduce me to a rumpled puddle of sweat by the time I make the 40 minute drive in my non-air conditioned car. This is what I've come up with.

With/without cardigan? May put it on when I get there to look a little less bare and cover up any sweaty pits (ew yeah I know. it's fucking 100 degrees here)

Close up of the front- it's navy and the least revealing neckline possible outside of a boycut teeshirt, which is weird for me.

No clue wtf to do with my hair. I cut it shorter and now all the sudden my buns are messy and sloppy looking.

Yeah, if you want to look professional you shouldn't wear something sleeveless. The cardigan takes the dress from a cute party outfit to something work appropriate. Also I just love cardigans. Wear the cardigan!

The dress is nice with the sweater, (do cover up the bare arms) but I would posit is a little short for an interview.  You're almost certainly going to be sitting across from somebody and too much leg is distracting.  Try to be just a smidgen more formal with a little bit longer hemline.  Also, if you think the humidity won't turn you into a frizz farm, your curls are entirely too wonderful not to have down if possible.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree that it's a few inches too short and you will have to wear the cardigan. If you're set on wearing that dress, then you should wear it with opaque tights (and I guess different heels then). If you can get a different one, get one that hits your knees or is very close, so you wouldn't have to wear tights. Otherwise, it's a very cute dress and the neckline is just fine.

I agree with Linds. Hair-wise, I think actually pull it back as much as possible, and clip back your cute curl bang thing, because it does look a bit messy and you want to look as polished as possible.

For the record, it is an old remington. Made in conjunction with UMC(?) back in the 30-40s.

Guys. I'm in the market for a decent set of hightops or sneakers or something comfy foot-wise.

Pre-reqs:
Must be black or lime green or some awesome combination of both.
Must be size 13 and wide if possible.
Must be hard wearing and comfortable as I stand all day at work.

Does anyone know of anything that fits that?

I used to carry moleskines, but I doodle and draw so much it got too expensive. Now I have super cheap sketchbooks instead! Not as classy, but they'll have to do.
