I guess I forgot that "I've got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one" is deep social commentary.

I really can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but at the very least the second verse of "99 Problems" has some pretty sharp commentary in there. Have you actually listened to the song?

Quote
The year is '94 and in my trunk is raw
In my rear view mirror is the mother fuckin law
I got two choices yall pull over the car or
Bounce on the devil put the pedal to the floor
Now i ain't tryin to see no highway chase with jake
Plus i got a few dollars i can fight the case
So i...pull over to the side of the road
And i heard "Son do you know why i'm stoppin you for?"
Cause i'm young and i'm black and my hats real low
Do i look like a mind reader sir, i don't know
Am i under arrest or should i guess some mo?
"Well you was doin fifty five in a fifty four"
"Liscense and regestration and step out of the car"
"Are you carryin a weapon on you i know alot of you are"
I ain't steppin out of shit all my papers legit
"Do you mind if i look round the car a little bit?"
Well my glove compartment is locked so is the trunk and the back
And i know my rights so you gon' need a warrent for that
"Aren't you sharp as a tack are some type of lawyer or something?"
"Or somebody important or somethin?"
Nah i ain't pass the bar but i know a little bit
Enough that you won't illegally search my shit
"Well see how smart you are when the K-9's come"
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

Pitty thread,

I'm hungover and I have to go give a tour in one hour.

I'm hungover and I had to go the American Consulate for Visa issues.

I'm hungover and I had to have my first meeting with my dissertation project supervisor.

Last night was worth it though.

I discovered the problem. I was trying to undo the wrong fucking screw. Jesus fuck.

I told my coworker that it was hug a vegetarian day because they are all cold and shivering from being malnourished.  (The cool Fall weather always hits these people hard)

I'm a vegetarian and I am neither malnourished or cold.

I am, however, in the middle of packing. Even though almost all my clothes are in a suitcase, all my cooking stuff is in boxes, all my college work has gone to recycling and the empty folders are packed, my room still looks messier than it has ever been before. I genuinely do not know where all this stuff has come from. I've spent several hours today throwing things out and packing things up and there is an ever-increasing amount of things still to get rid of.

Redskins are going down

FUCK YOU!

Yeah, they are...

No one wants their team to be the one that breaks the Lions' 18-game losing streak.

The difference being that most teams don't have to worry much about it, but I think that it's quite probable we'll lose.

i hope you're not being sarcastic because it actually didn't

Maybe it didn't originate, but it was certainly fostered in its early days by the social commentary (The Furious Five, for instance).

It'll probably be an actual good team that the Lions do eventually beat, a good team on a bad day. I am a Lions fan, and I will tell you why. I cannot be disappointed in them. When a team hasn't won a game in as long as they have, if you win just one game it's a good season! Just one! If they don't win one, well then they've got the longest losing streak and that is still something of an accomplishment.

One of my good friends that I knew in Charleston (and played a number of gigs with) is a big Lions fan.  For the past two year (so far, the duration of our friendship), I've been able to make fun of him mercilessly, and I know turnabout's fair play, so I really want to win, because I don't think I can his inevitable comments on top of losing to the Lions.

p.s.  Mad props for being a Lions fan.  Are you a fan of Detroit teams?  Because most of them only acknowledge the Pistons and the Red Wings.  They kind of forget about the Tigers and the Lions, because those two teams aren't winning, which really sucks imo.

Mmm-bop thread

This sounds awfully self-indulgent, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around the idea. I realized yesterday that, if I were to get married in the foreseeable future, I would have no best man. I don't have any people who I would be able to ask, male or female. It's such a strange idea, since I've always considered myself to be a "good" friend. But before I left for college I managed to alienate all my friends back home to the point where some of them wish violence to me. And I've been so busy trying to patch things up with my girlfriend that I haven't met anybody here. All in all... strange.

Mmm-bop thread

This sounds awfully self-indulgent, but I'm just trying to wrap my head around the idea. I realized yesterday that, if I were to get married in the foreseeable future, I would have no best man.

I used to have a best man in mind, but frankly, he's a li'l crazy these days. Like, we had already grown apart somewhat due to distance, but when he got back from Hawaii it was clear he made the progression from a bit wild to being a drug dealing, police hating 9-11 truther and pseudo-Republican. I used to think that it'd really hard to ever cut someone I felt close to out of my life, but frankly, I had never counted on being close to someone who was both:

 A. Crazy enough to think that the Bush White House had singled out him in particular despite the fact that he's an unemployed dude who lived in his mom's basement and sold weed.

and

 B. Crazy enough to think that you should still be a Bush supporter because the Republicans were going to take over and you don't want to be on their bad side when the shit goes down.

So, uh, yeah, I think I'm just going to get my brother to be best man if I get married any time soon.

Now that I think about it, I've never actually been to a friend's wedding.  I've got a few choices for best man (or head groomswoman for one of those choices), but as I think about it more, I'm sure of who it would be.  Thing is, I'm fairly certain he's going to get married before I ever do.

Not as tightly as you might think; I like plenty of cops. There's a difference between being willing to do illegal things occasionally and coming up with a rather skewed world view to justify those actions. He was firmly getting into tinfoil hat territory.

blog!  i just got back from my cruise to the caymans and cozumel.  fucking amazing.  great sun!  great comedians!  great water!  it rained in cayman, but that's alright.  i still went swimming and could see the bottom of the ocean even when i was out really deep, so awesome!!!  other than that, cayman was boring.  in cozumel, i swam with fucking dolphins!  crazy ass expensive, but hella worth it.  they're not slimey!!!  i thought they would be but they're not!  and omg free tequila.  walking by jewelry stores and they lure you inwith free shots, wtf.  like 9 shots and three beers later, i was pretty much on my ass.  oh!  and my friend and i took a cab to paradise beach and there's a fucking TRAMPOLINE in the middle of the damn ocean!!  so of course, drunk as we were, we swam out.  jumping and bouncing and omg fun times were had.  it started to rain and everyone else got out of the water, but we didn't.  the waves started getting a little rough, so i thought we should head in.  i started to reach for the ladder on the trampoline and fell the fuck off and swallowed fucking mexican water.  my first thought "oh crap, i'm gonna have to crap!"  never mind that it's raining and i'm drunk and the water is kinda rough and ya know, i'm petrified of the ocean to begin with and there might be sharks.  nope.  it's "i might have to poop".  haha.   and um..... took a gazillion pictures on the ship,  and they charged the price of my soul for them.  it is ridiculous what they get away with.

all in all, highly recommended, but glad to be home.

Next time, I'll be ready. Kinda bummed I didn't get to dance though. That bass was coming through from a block away.

Going to sleep early because you are too stoned? That really doesn't make sense to you?

I can expand the definition of that if anyone wants to roll around to my Fortress of Love.

wait... I don't... wait... I don't know where that correlation comes from.

Also don't get the correlation.  Hung out last night with loco banana from here!  We were out at bar until late, and I didn't get much sleep.

As a side note, British accents make hot girls hotter.

Tommy, everything is relative.

Blog thread I'm so jealous of all my friends who are already at uni. I can't wait to go, and put up my posters (ok I can't use blu-tak on the walls so I have to buy FRAMES for them all) and have my new bedding on the bed and not have to worry about it matching the spare bed. And I get a pigeon hole in the foyer and my room door will have a lock on it and I have all these pots and sieves and knives and stuff that I haven't used yet.

I want to move now :( Lectures can wait, but I want to move into my new home!

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

I also hear that holding your nose makes it easier to swallow dog-shit.

I never said it made ugly girls hot.  To use a food analogy, bearnaise sauce makes it easier to eat fillet mignon, which is true!

I once framed posters and then used a shit ton of blu-tack to keep them up because I'm super petty like that.
