Oh man god damn I'm exhausted.

Albrecht von Mecklenburg had The Imperial March as his team song. I've heard bagpipes from 10 AM until 2 AM every day since Friday. Medieval re-enacters re-enact medieval drinking. I've had a great weekend.

The only sad part was that I met two girls, and both had boyfriends. God dammit.

Oh hey you guys won one sporting competition. Good on you, how very nice.

(you see winning has become so passé for Australians that we forget how exciting it can be for you pale, bowlegged, genetically inferior English types.)

HELLO NEW WALLET

You know just today I was thinking to myself "Damnit Dovey you are a big boy now and you should be carrying a money clip, like a big boy should" and then the Internet brings me this. What would I do with myself without you guys, hey? (I would have significantly less things of fine leather that is what).

Dear Blog Thread,

I had a legitimate Shit Your Pants Man You Nearly Died moment last night! I was at work and from seemingly nowhere a gigantic wind kicked up, followed by a metallic clanking sound and a few other assorted bashes and crashes. It turns out that a piece of flying debris had hit the window one story up and about a meter to my left. The bit of debris- whatever it was, I couldn't really tell- was still stuck halfway in the window! If the wind was slightly different I may well have been showered in glass and I can assure that would not have been a good scene. Pee Ess The office above us is unoccupied so nobody got hurt.

To celebrate my near miss I berated a guy on Facebook for being a homophobe and being unable to correctly utilise the apostrophe. Good times.

Roller Derby Grand Final.

Oh hey!  One of the girls on the squad that wears army camo (Miss Biff) is a friend of a friend.  I knew she did Roller Derby, but I didn't know it was an actual comp-style thing.  She is super intimidating-looking, no?

Also: is that in the Gym of a school right near Town Hall in the city?  If so, one of my friends used to play basketball there.  It looks familiar is all.

I am not liking how my job is starting to make me feel ill because so many people are bickering and making jibes at each other. It's stressing me out. But the person that's causing it all will be leaving some time next month.

Another, though not very good, reason to be excited for Chicago...

Also I found out today that Kari from these here forums met one of my friends who played at Nerdapalooza, which is pretty sweet.

Blog thread,

Yesterday was terrible. Everything tried to kill me. On my way to work, the car in front of my was varying in speed from 45 to 70 randomly. I decided to pass. When I got even with his car, he slammed on the gas. I found myself playing chicken with a Tractor Trailer. Thankfully, I managed to swerve back into the correct lane with a few feet to spare.

Then I had a terrible day at my awful job filled with toothless rednecks treating me like an idiot.

Then on my way home, my usual route was blocked off by a manhunt. Apparently, a guy who lived in my neighboring town killed his dad and fled into the woods and corn fields a few miles from my home (I live about 7 miles from a town). So, as I take a much longer, more dangerous route to my house that is filled with century-old bridges without guardrails and blind corners, a deer jumps off a ridge to my left and smashes into my car.

THE DEER SUICIDE BOMBED MY CAR.

tl;dr FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Dear blog thread,

I had fully intended to go to bed on time today, a good boy, so as to wake up early tomorrow, go to the gym, and then change geriatric care in Sweden during the day. I rewarded myself for my good intentions by eating good food, drinking good wine, and reading Vellum (which looks to be brilliant btw, I knew all that Innanna business from highschool would come in handy!!)

And then, instead of going to bed, I joined some friends in celebrating the Überwald League of Temperance Day. This was inappropriate but very right, and so I'd like to wish you all a ULoTD that's at least as happy as mine was :)

This post took a very long time to write, but I must express my love for you.

Tomorrow I leave NC to go to Washington DC for my college roommate's wedding. Bachelor party will be at Medieval Times, and then the festivities will be on Saturday. Not only do I get to see my fiancee and my college roommate, but a bunch of old friends are coming into town for it. I'll probably end up spamming the picture thread with some tuxedo pics in a few days

Well we've been celebrating it the past few years in July. I guess because it's easier to have the Feats of Strength outside when it's warm versus when it's freezing and also everyone who wants to do it is home and not busy with school or celebrating the holidays with their families.

You live in Jamaica, so I'm pretty sure you've never played Red Rover or tackle football in below freezing winter when there's a lot of snow and/or ice. It can be fun for a little while, but then everyone is wet and cold in addition to being really sore and they want to give up faster. Also it makes it harder to run. Momentum is important!

Blog thread!
Last night I went out with my friend. We saw Up and then decided to skip dinner. We went driving a few towns over from ours. There was a twisty road and it was kind of wet out and a sharp corner...we spun out of a turn and slid something like 50 feet. Spent a long time trying to get it out, but cracked and called a tow truck driver who said that if we hadn't have hit the small tree at the side of the road, the car would have rolled. Scary shit. The fucking po showed up and gave us a hard time and gave my poor friend a couple hefty tickets. There is minimal damage to the car though, and neither of us were hurt.

I was pretty shaken up though! Who is glad I didn't die? I am.
