Blaggy,

I spent the day at an artist friend's house and we lit up there. It's so nice to start smoking again because it means I can relax and not be constantly paranoid. I love their house, I really do. When they sell it years from now, I hope that I will have the money to buy it because I want to live there.

The other place I want to live is in Tennessee, and it's my favourite place in the world, but now they're putting a four-lane highway through the area and it will be ruined. Ruined!

Also, I wrote an incredibly catchy song tonight that I am proud of.

Hello blog thread,

I realise I am not one of your regular patrons but even a man such as myself feels the urge once in a while. So I have moved into a new house, which is strange and confusing because I don't know the other people who live here aside from my friend who moved in with me, and the rest have been here a while. I've never moved into a place that wasn't just a blank slate, it feels like somewhere I'm staying instead of living but I'm sure that will wear off. It's also not a shithole which is odd for me, it's all framed Rothko prints on the walls instead of drawing pinned flyers for Lost Prophetz gigs. It even has a shitting dish washer.

Happily, I managed to get my skummy side on with a good gig and good drinking at the 120 Rats squat. There were good bands (I think I own too many records, it's a bad sign when you realise halfway through a band's set you own their demo and like it), necrophilia donor cards, political chat with a Canadian punk about how brutal the cops are over there if you've got so much as a mohawk and general nice crusty hangouts despite some bullshit drama. Although it did mar the feeling I had of "no-one I know is going to jail" I got on Friday since apparently the nice Canadian might end up doing time on some nonsense.

All in all, I like a Monday I greet by wandering home pissed from a squat after dawn.

Blogz,
I went to the best festival over the weekend. Highlights include incredible music by a "slam-folk" or "folk-hop" band called The Fugitives (and ain't they just the nicest people), vodka, free hash (I can thank my hippie van for that one), Lake Couchiching and sunshine (I have a teensy sunburn on my nose but mostly just more freckles.)

I hope I will be allowed to do a photodump in the photo thread...I have lots of great ones of bands and me wearing a silly crown of flowers!

Is Philadelphia airport anywhere near the bits of Philadelphia with few guns and many things to do? I will probably be spending a good few hours there on the way back from ChicagoCon and I'd like to be able to see some of it!

Today I was going to wash a load of clothes and bedding, harvest all the fruit and veg that is growing rampant in the garden, clean the house and do some cooking. So far, I've put a load of washing on and taken a shower. It's now ten past two. So much for my great plans! On the other hand the laptop my dad got me is awesome, it has this programme which is designed for students with the capability to do just about anything; keep class schedules, record assignments, you can take notes in handwriting (it's a tablet PC) and it converts them to text, it's awesome. I'm really excited about uni now!

My 4th of July was pretty great: the night before, I went to a party and had some great conversations with interesting people, drank a lot of beer, and got to sleep at about 5 am.  After another party the next afternoon with barbecue and popsicles and small children, we returned to my parents' new house, which is in a primarily Hispanic Los Angeles suburb.  Six or seven close neighbors had huge stockpiles of illegal fireworks, so from my parents' backyard, we had a 360-degree view of professional-quality fireworks from about 8 pm through 1 am.

Also, my boyfriend, another friend, and I smoked weed with my parents for the first time.  It was remarkably cool--a lot less awkward than I thought it'd be.  So we sat around the fire pit getting high, making s'mores, and watching fireworks.  Good times!

I'm back in NYC. Not doing anything cause I'm waiting for AA to bring me my bag which they somehow left behind in Miami. I'm listening to some skream, and napping cause last night I just stayed awake and hung out in Miami and saw the sights and stuff instead of staying in the airport for the layover. I had no idea Miami was this big, I got lost trying to get to south beach, so instead stumbled into little havana and downtown which was a happy accident. I finally got to south beach and miami beach at like 10pm, after having landed at 5pm.

Tonight's the last night one of my friends is in town before she heads of to australia (I haven't seen her in two years), so I'll be going to go see the bryant park movie with her and a couple of friends. the movie is dog day afternoon which is pretty awesome cause I haven't seen it yet.

Costa Rica was pretty rad guys! I'm definitely going back. Puerto Viejo is like amsterdam but in the tropics + surfing. And the hotel was ridiculously cheap and had a communal kitchen which was awesome. Also, I went snorkling, and saw a lion fish. Also, howler monkeys, sloths, and capuchin monkeys and lots of raccoons and frogs.

tl;dr: I had fun times in other places, and I plan on having fun times here.

From what I remember, yes, but you'd have to get there by cab or something. Downtown Philly seemed like a pretty nice place when I visited, but I wasn't there for very long and really am not much help. Yay mostly useless post!

Dear blog thread - it's funny when you have conversations with a guy friend who is also on OkCupid until you ask him about those weird questions he answered and he gets confused and then you remind him and then you realize that he never even got those questions and then you feel really awkward bringing it up in the first place. So uh. Yeah. Now I'm pretty sure this guy thinks I'm nuts. Also I think OkCupid hates me and does this on purpose.

Dear Blog-thread and anyone that's interested.

Recount from Friday: I had the day off from work, so that was pretty cool. My grandparents, my mother's sister and her husband and their came up, along with two other cousins (my aunt and mom's brother's kids), for a fourth of July dinner/BBQ thing. It was cool to catch up with my one cousin, Renee, since she'd been living down in the D.C. area for the past year or so, and she recently moved home to her father's house in Virginia. Saturday I had to work, nothing new there. I managed to make it through the day (nine to four) even with screaming children and senile elderly folks that expect you to read their mind's to get them what they want.../rant. Anyways, after work I went home, where I had to set up my parents' new DVR because they're "tech-tards" as my mother said. After that, we watched my father on a television show, any of you upstate New York/ Vermont/ maybe Canada too? could have seen this broadcast. My dad makes lightning out of antlers (see www.adirondackantlers.com) and he appeared on a segment of Rustic Living hosted by some guy with a beard... needless to say we were rather excited for this. After that I went to Lake Placid to see a movie with Renee and Corissa (my two cousins that were at the dinner), Corissa's boyfriend, my uncle's ex-wife's sister (my cousin's mother's sister) and her son...confused? :) We saw Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs; and it was rather good. After that we went to Lisa's (Renee and Corissa's mom) bar, Wiseguys, and played pool till it was time for the Fourth of July fireworks, we went up to the beach and watched said fireworks (I'll post in a couple pictures later, nothing special). After that we retreated to Wiseguys to hang out some more, then I went home. Sunday, I worked, woopty doo. Monday, today, was my day off, and I walked/drove around Lake Placid blaring my music at the horseshow people...that was fun :) Seeing city kids turn their head in confusion as Bayside and Pavement are blared at them from a car driving through the city doing no more than ten miles an hour ;) Bahaha....well that was my weekend, how was yours?

I nearly got us into a fight cause some guy a few years older was moaning about "all these damn college kids going away and then coming back thinking they are smarter than everyone". I promptly corrected him on his wrong thinking which he took as cheek and threatened me with a black eye.

I would deck anyone who used the term "corrected him on his wrong thinking" or even just if they looked like they were going to later describe the scene as such, just on principle.

Sorry dude you are probably cool and everything but I have buttons

Blog Thread,

It turns out the guy that has been sleeping on our couch at the moment was a very good chef because he was done low by the law and so now we load him up with cash and he goes to the supermarket and buys shit and cooks us meals in exchange for not having to pay rent, and he made us home made pizzas yesterday and taught me how to make pizza dough and it was fucking BADASS.

Also I have called in sick to work today because I have a mild fever and it probably won't be made any better by wading around in puddles of water and beer at 6 am doing heavy lifting, so I am going to make pizza with the remaining dough we have left in the fridge and play fallout 3 and do some washing.

Getting more and more excited about the idea of a bike road trip through Canada this spring. My sister and mother are urging me toward the path of safety (and of course I won't ride like a fucktard, I share the same worries, being a lover of life). My girlfriend says she doubts I'd do it, but I think she's just subtly trying to spur me into this kind of spontaneity. My friends? They're proud of me for doing something that appears to be outgoing. Me? I just want to live while my heart can bear it.

Speaking of my girl, she's been incredibly good for me. I hope she doesn't forget me when I go. I hope she isn't hung up on me, but I hope she thinks of me fondly. Leaving her on Wednesday morning is going to rip me clean apart, but as long as she looks at our time together and says to herself, "Them was good times, good times indeed," I think I can handle it. I know I will be. I've learned a lot from her.

I'm a clean-cut romantic horsefuck tonight. Idunno it must be the "spreading my wings into adulthood" phase that I imagine most people go through where they go all 7th-grade-young-and-stupid-omg-soooo-random and they do possibly stupid spontaneous shit like this.

I feel like I am at some kind of crossroads.  Only thing is, there's so goddamn many paths it is less of a crossroads and more of a gigantic dirt circle in the middle of nowhere.  I'm not paralyzed with fear or anything, but I guess figuratively speaking I am sort of walking around in a sort of spiraling molecular orbit around the center point.  Not sure what to call my situation, but I think I need some kind of outside influence to get out of it.  Also my mother is going in for a Whipple procedure on Thursday.  So the next month or so of her recovery is probably going to pin me in the center of that crossroads unless I do something about it in the next week.

due to a series of accidents i baked too much cake/pie/cookies.  it is a really delicious dilemma but i have been on a sugar high for the past 24 hours and gained back those 5 lbs it took me 2 weeks to lose in just 2 days.  this is probably not healthy.

but on the bright side i have a netbook!  it is pink and so cute and perfect!  i do not regret this impractical use of my savings.

So earlier in the summer, it was boring and not that great. Now it's still boring, but I'm having some good times with friends and enjoying sleeping in. So that's an improvement.

Also, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I decided to learn the Greek alphabet today. I have no knowledge of Greek and currently have no plans to learn it, so the practical implications of this are few and far between, but whatever. It's not that hard seeing as it's kind of a mix of English letters and Cyrillic (Russian) letters, due to the fact that Cyrillic came from Greek letters. And it's only 24 letters, although most of the lower case letters look completely different from the upper case,  so it's almost like learning 40 letters instead of 24. κυλ.

I should make a language thread.

That is indeed scary stuff, but try not to assume the worst. I've had those exact same symptoms and it was due to a high dose of antibiotics that it turned out I was allergic to. Hopefully your mother's right and the problem is something just as mild.

Blog,

So my sister has been sick all weekend and I have been taking care of her. Today we find out it is swine flu and my stupid ass has exposed myself to it nonstop and now I am starting to feel ill. Fuck you, influenza.

don't die from h1n1 dude

I quit my job because I got a better job offer and now it's two days into a week that was supposed to involve work and hasn't. Hopefully some work materializes when I come back from Winnipeg or I'm gonna be pissed off!

I have spent a fairly ludicrous amount of time over the past few days completely redesigning my website. I've taken all the different sub-sites (my personal poetry page, my friends page, our tour shit, etc.) and put them under an umbrella of some kind of art-wankery. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out so far; Tyler's official word is "Pretty, but hard to navigate."

Also, I am going to go take a long walk today. I'm pretty excited about that.

Websites with little boxes like that remind me of the pop-up porn websites.
I like it.

It was a heart attack. Fortunately, it was relatively mild, I talked to my mom at the hospital. They're transferring her for some more tests, but it's possible she'll be home by tonight. Could use some good thoughts and vibes right now, thank you.

@ Jimor: That sucks, but at least it was only a mild one. When you think about it, it's probably better to identify any possible heart conditions now rather than later so now they can treat it before it gets worse. *good vibes sending your way*. (also, Chapter 2 Part 2 was good stuff).

@ Patrick: You said it yourself, as long as she looks back fondly on your time time together, it'll be okay. Life progresses, it sucks sometimes, but that's just how it goes. *also sending good vibes your way*.

You do realize that Livermore, CA is the easternmost point in the Bay Area and is completely fucking loaded right?

Sitka, AK, on the other hand (which is where I will be moving to after my Liv-mo visit is through) has 8000 people of two distinct types: fishermen and bitey, mauly, large bears

If you tell them you are famous somewhere foreign, it works just the same. You then become mysterious and worldly.

No chance in hell, I don't want anybody I actually give two shits about to know that I am mostly famous for singing the Killers and Coldplay songs not even halfheartedly.

Unless they have a sense of irony

(Jimor holy crap I am glad you got her to a hospital! Vibes and other mallet percussion will be shipped presently)

I guess I just haven't spent enough time out there. Every time I've been out there it has seemed completely fucking dull. Especially when compared to San Francisco or Berkeley.

Popular Livermore activities include ghostriding the whip, scraping, going dumb, and repping the hyphy. If that's not for you, dressing up like a 'scene' kid and acting like a prick at the coffee shop on 1st and K is also available. Another, less-recommended Livermore favorite is building a meth lab in your garage but if you do I hope you have "meth lab explosion" insurance.

Is Philadelphia airport anywhere near the bits of Philadelphia with few guns and many things to do? I will probably be spending a good few hours there on the way back from ChicagoCon and I'd like to be able to see some of it!

The Philadelphia Airport isn't really close to anything interesting to do, however, there is a public train service (the R1 regional rail) that shuttles between the Center City area and the airport.  It's relatively cheap and doesn't take too much time.  Fares and schedules are available at septa.com, so you should be able to plan a jaunt through Center City or West Philly (which is actually the coolest part of the city) without much trouble.

Thanks! You're so thoughtful.

Whine whine whine I got some bad news that really bummed me out...but it is also leaving me with a surplus of cash (which is not really a surplus but we'll pretend I have some financial freedom) and so I am going to take a road trip with my ex to Ottawa and Quebec City! I really just need to gtfo of my life for a few days so I'm looking forward to this a lot.
