I used to toast Shredded Wheat and then butter it when hot so that the butter ran down through it.

Just watched perseids with my two favorite people ever. Saw thirty (probably more fainter, ambiguous ones--thanks a lot moon) meteors in about an hour, including one FUCKING GIANT BEHEMOTH shooting star you wouldn't imagine ever witnessing. Bright as fuck and its trajectory lingered for like five seconds.

Then we were happy about songs on the radio!

This fucking sucks.

Oh man, that blows.

60 odd years ago, my great grandmother's sister committed suicide. Her daughter(my great aunt) went to live with her aunt and cousin(great grandma and grandma)She was only about a year old, and as far as I can tell, only lived there for a few months. Her father(my great great uncle, woah) then pulled douchebag move and took her away. That was the last my grandmother and great grandmother ever saw of her. Fast forward 60 years to the present. My mother and aunts have tried to find her over the internet with no success. My great uncle(grandma's brother) steps up, and pays for a private investigator. My grandma will meet with her cousin today, after 60 years.

In totally unrelated news, my butt itches.

Blaggy,

We (my roommate and I) just found a bat with a broken wing lying pitifully in the dirt outside, in the sun. I thought it was dead until I very gently touched it with a stick and it squeaked at me. We took it into the shed and left it there where our puppies can't get to it. I don't think it's going to live long if it has a broken wing. I shouldn't have named it Bruce Wayne, either.

Dear Blog Thread,

As the meebo crowd might know already, I am going through some financial issues at this point in my life. It has happened to me before, but always in more of a minor way so that I was able to easily take care of it. But this time it is worse.

The story is as such. When I moved in with my roommate, we were incredibly good friends. We hung out all the time, so moving in with each other seemed like a good idea, plus his current roommate was moving out to go to school in England. After I moved in, we had this nice chat about rent, etc. He told me that, since he makes about twice as much in a month as I do, he would take care of the utilities for me, and I would just pay my half of the rent. I said thanks, and we went on like that.

We lived in harmony for over a year, him paying a little extra each month. About two months ago, he asked me one night (in a light, joking tone), when I was going to start paying utilities. I said "oh, right away" in the same tone and we had a good laugh.

Thursday night last week, having just arrived home from Chicagocon, my roommate knocks on my door and asks to come in. He proceeds to tell me that he is PISSED because the whole time we have been living together, he has been paying all the utilities himself without me ever, ever offering to chip in. And then he says to me "if you don't give me the money you owe me ($410, apparently) you're gonna need to find a new place to live".

I do not have $410.

So now I need to somehow scrape together far, far more money than I have to pay a roommate that pulled an extremely dick move just so we can go on living together. It is not a great atmosphere to live in. I have been looking for a new place to move to, but I haven't gotten any replies when I've been replying to ads. I have, however, gotten offers for my room, but I can't accept them until I have somewhere else to live.

But if I find somewhere to move to, and someone to move in here, I am going to tell my roommate to go fuck himself and not give him the rest of the money that I "owe" his sorry ass.

Oh, and my car needs repairs. And I have college to finance.

So yeah, my life right now is shit. Donations accepted. Please see my signature.

Wait, what could he do if you didn't? Also when is your lease up? Because he has no right to "evict" you based on that unless he takes you to court which would be hell of expensive for him (and you I guess). It sounds like he is bullying you to get his way. If you guys had a talk where he said that and he never brought it up except maybe MAYBE in only what seems like an extremely passive aggressive way, that's his own fault.

I'd try to talk to him once you've calmed down enough to explain your side to him. It's probably some misunderstanding and he's been brewing over it forever (for no reason really, if it did bother him he should have said something to you before) (which he didn't).

I agree, a very dick move. Can you afford to pay full utilities for a bit? If so, strike a bargain where you pick it up until you're square, this way you don't have to come up with it all right away, and you still can do what you feel is right about the balance when you move out. It also gives you a chance to talk about the original arrangement from a position of trying to work things out rather than a position where you simply don't have the lump sum. If you can't afford that, then get back onto 50/50 which should buy some time. Try not to feel too much pressure to pay right now, the way he's handled this doesn't deserve instant gratification.

Congrats on the username change?  :-)

Dear thread,

I turned in the paperwork to start getting paid to work at the access station now. Last weekend was my last volunteer job, and it was a doozy. Each year, the big local music equipment store sponsors a program that kids 12-18 sign up for, where they get assigned to bands, get a professional coach/mentor, and then learn how to work together, write songs, and build a 3-song performance that they get to play in front of an audience of about 2000. We were there to tape it for showing on the station at a later date, so they get on TV, too. Some pretty decent performances on the instruments, and good stage presence for the most part, but unfortunately, not a lot of strong singers, so it did get a bit hard to listen to once in a while.

We got to the venue at 8am to lay cable and get all the cameras set up and patch into the main sound system for audio. The bands started playing at 12noon, and ran until a bit after 6pm. 22 bands! Then we had to break down the equipment, pack up, and put everything away back at the station, so it was right around 8pm when we were finally done. A 12 hour day, and all I got was a free lunch and an event t-shirt!  :-P

After turning in the paperwork, I got a chance to direct a LIVE talk show as part of my training to handle the studio for my own show. So I was the one calling the camera shots and telling people where to be and what to do. Fortunately, it's an experienced crew, so if I did forget something, they knew what to do anyway. Nobody died, and the studio is still standing, so I guess it was a success?  :-o

How pathetic is my nick? I made it up myself. It sounded better than the one nick my friend came up with (French Potato). At the time I was thinking about my eclectic taste in music. Like when i play my guitar I like using harmonic distortion and natural harmonic squealys ala dimebag. Also when i was a youngin I was treated to a performance of the Hamilton Philharmonic through a school field trip. So in a way I guess it fits.

hey bloggy,

started the new job last week and it's so awesome!  i have hardly any knowledge of the field i'm working for,and my head is swimming from trying to learn everything so quickly.  it's fun though!  i love learning new things (especially things that can help me develop my financial portfolio)!

i had a major lapse of brain this morning.  i was leaving my house to go north for the weekend again, and i forgot my baggage.  i am not driving home again to get it as i don't have time to waste tonight, so i need to go out at lunch and buy a fancy sexy dress for when i go out later.  it makes me sad because the dress i was going to wear was perfect and it's been in my closet for years without being worn.  so sad.  but hey, shopping is fun.  and my boss and nearly everyone else is out fo the office today, so long lunch, here i come!

i went down to toronto last night for manhunt for the first time in about three years and it was just as fun as i remembered it. it's essentially a game of tag played between about 20-30 adults who meet up anonymously via the internet because fuck it, why can't a grown man or woman enjoy a game of tag in the dark streets of toronto at midnight once in a while.
toronto folks, you should come play too! it's the best.

I am moving out to the country, to a town known pretty much for this thing.  I guess I need to become more outdoorsy now that I'll be surrounded by all this natural splendor and stuff.

No, nothing from the Museum Insel, not this time, no. Been there before, though.

Every museum I thought of was closed anyway, so, whatever.

Bastards.

Also: got two great scotches at Whisky&Cigars and the new Skyclad. And the Early Stages box set by Marillion.

There is workplace drama today, and it is pretty serious. I am now aware that it doesn't necessarily concern me, but earlier today it was freaking me out to the point where I now feel like I'm verging on a panic attack. The last time I felt like this I ended up in the hospital and it was terrible.

Mostly I can't stop the paranoid feeling and I've been throwing up and auuugh would someone please like to fix my brain?

Hey guys, haven't posted for a little while, and have news for everyone, going to do the news in chronological order so that it all makes sense.

1. I am up at the edinburgh fringe, performing poet's corner, a play written by one of my friends and in which I get to speak middle english and have to wear tights.
2. I have been seeing shows and doing other fun things whilst flyering/ trying my best to keep the company going.
3. My parents came up and brought booze with them after their trip to France to see the play.
4. Had a very nice 2 hour conversation with a girl named fran about non-verbal programing, psychology and drama

and
5. Yesterday I found out that the girl who I had known since the first year of uni, the girl who is one of the few actual friends I made at uni, who came to my birthday party and who I shared my first proper kiss with, died of a massive epileptic fit in Birmingham 3 nights ago...

I am posting here to try and get this down somewhere, to try and get my thoughts in order, because I can't actually believe it myself. I have been wandering around the city in a daze, trying to keep eating and thinking, my body feels like its on autopilot. Its worse because there is no-one in Edinburgh at the moment but me who knew her that well, and no-one in Leeds who seemed especially keen to get to know her... but she was always nice to me, and tended to enjoy hanging around with me and all sorts of random crap like that... I'm sorry to bother people, but I just need to get this down and I think I can, for once, disregard politeness.
