kind of assumed it was a reference to the pontiac trans-am (not sure how hard they are to repair)

also I thought the accepted term for how 'beard' has been defined in this context was a "liza"

sidenote: last night my hamburgers tasted like beer and I couldn't figure out why and now I have found out that there is an exploded beer in the freezer behind where I was defrosting the meat and now I am freaking out because although I have not died from ingesting broken glass I could have

also I saw a man have his foot run over by a concrete mixer out the front of my house a little earlier, and then some random dudes dressed up as pirates came around selling soft drink door to door, it is kind of a weird day today.

also was reading comics and followed this link and I'm not quite sure why they needed to define what a beard was. I am really curious how you use "beard" as a derogatory term

Wonder what they have to say about 'trap'.

Edit: Absolutely nothing. Also, the tranny means transmission...I don't even like cars and I know that!

I also find this one amusing:

Balls: Innocent childhood playthings

Is the "innocent" necessary?

That website is admirable but ultimately a fucking joke.  I wish people who actually knew how to communicate effectively with kids got involved in that sort of thing.

Honestly if I hadn't come to the site through Penny Arcade's comic about it, I would have assumed it was a clumsy joke about prescriptive language. I mean an actual joke, too.

"Hey look sometimes things mean two things!"

"kids have ridiculous and non-literal slang terms"

The day of silence is also confusing and seems counter-intuitive.

School starts tomorrow.

Some of the guys in class and me are meeting early to give the first-graders a nice little hello/an evil prank (depends on what we fancy and bother to do). Catching up will be great, although I'm kinda jealous. Those guys were at the Øya-festival and probably saw a great deal of cool bands, and I was at home working. Which means that they have lots to talk about and I have nada. Woo. The fuckers probably didn't even go see Crystal Castles, which is the only band there I really wanted to see. Oh well. I'm hoping school works out, and that we still have enough classes in front of computers for me to feed my new-found tribalwars addiction.

33°C today oh god oh god this is so not cool

I whipped out my iPhone and used the app I wrote to convert that to Farenheit, woo.  That was so completely unnecessary but still felt awesome.

also I thought the accepted term for how 'beard' has been defined in this context was a "liza"

I've known the term "beard" for years.  My fiancee once brought the epic lols by asking me "Joe, am I your beard?"

For reference on how long ago that was, I think there was a joke about this on the quiki.

So, yes. School started back last Monday. All I can say is, never view a flat on a Sunday in the summer...little gits. Posh little gits too. Mummy drops the little darlings to school (which happens to be right beside my lovely ground floor flat) every morning in her 4X4. Needless to say, I will not be in the mood for such goings on when I'm facing several mornings of hangovers a week when uni starts back.

whoah, what? how does that work?

It only works so far in that it's function is to cause injury to the person riding it.

On a less practical level it could be seen as a tool to help people recognize bad ideas

With the rolling pogo stick as a starting point you could introduce someone with a previous history of bad ideas to it and then work down to less obvious bad ideas until suddenly they are a sensible person.

People at work need to stop complaining to me about other people at work. There's only 5 of us right now. It's really hard not to hate everyone because they won't stop bitching about each other. (I happen to like everyone, so I'm getting really tired of all the gossip shit. Just shut up.)

Also, it's infuriating right now that I have an art degree and what I'm doing with it is copying famous works of art onto fucking foam board with crappy paint for window displays. Also the fact that I had to bring this shit home just so I wouldn't hear people argue back and forth how it needs to go up already, but no, it looks bad because the paint is so thin and blah blah blah, Idon'tcareohmygodshutupalready.

This is so stupid. Agh.

I think the world record for bad ideas came from a certain world record attempt.

I came across a book that described how back in the 20s and 30s (my google fu has failed for fact checking my memory on this), the method for breaking the motorcycle speed record was to strip down to the equivalent of speedos, grease up the body with axle grease, then lay flat on one's stomach on the seat of the motorcycle, hands forward on the handlbars, feet straight back -- all of this to increase aerodynamic efficiency. They would then hit speeds of 160mph+...

On the Bonneville SALT flats.

When one fellow wiped out this way, the only record he set was for Epic Road Rash.  :-o

They stopped doing it that way after that.

This is coming from a decade where people sat on flagpoles, ate chili peppers or crammed into telephone booths for fun.  I am not surprised.  In fact, I am pretty sure all those people in Reefer Madness were just told to act like people from the 20's.

So it looks like I am not going to see District 9. I am not going to see District 9 because my best guy friend, who makes the plans for my group of friends, thinks that I have been fooling around with his girlfriend. The problem here is that, if you look at it from his point of view, we did fool around and that is a fact. But from her and my point of view, we came very close to doing something monumentally stupid, then realized that we didn't want to risk losing our current partners and close friendship so we stopped what we were doing and put our clothes back on. And I was so relieved because I thought that was the end of that.

edit for clarity: Yes, I am aware I am a terrible person.

Dear Blog thread

Parodying backstreet boys by making Norwegian lyrics for Everybody is a good idea y/n?

Also, yesterday I had my first introduction to Blood Bowl. I'll be looking into a web-variant now. Have to read through the thread.

Well my first choice uni wanted my actual mark breakdowns, and we faxed them to them earlier. They weren't the grades they had asked for (I was seven UMS marks off on two of them and up to 42 on the other two) but I still sent them and they said "we'll let you know in a few days". So I don't know.

I have to ring my insurance uni now because they haven't confirmed my place even though I've achieved their offer, so I have no idea what I'm doing. GAH.

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

Man, that's stupid  :| I got some good grades and some stupid grades (E on a Cosmology paper  :? ) but overall it was enough to get me the place and a scholarship, so that's OK  :-)

This will just be because your first choice hasn't made a decision about you yet as you only get offered a place at your second choice if your first choice rejects you, so your second choice will be in the same position as you; waiting to hear back about what the first choice decides. If they don't decide to offer you a place don't worry about the delay, your second choice are legally bound to accept you so long as you met the grade requirements and haven't been offered a place at your first choice.

Hi guys hi!
Have you missssed me?  I am back from my overseas adventures with the internets!  It is the best thing to be home with the boy and my Meow again!  I am jet lagged though and keep doing dumb things like sleeping all day then not sleeping at night.  This will be a problem if I don't sort it out by Monday!
I had fun with everyone I got to hang out with!  Thanks for having me guys <3 <3 <3
