My dad once tried hooking me up with a random grocery store clerk. It was pretty much as awkward as Marten's mom trying to hook him up with the waitress.

I don't understand the bourbon/cake gag.  Did Faye get drunk and spill batter on herself while trying to bake?  Did she eat cake while drunk and puke all over herself?  What???

The first option. She had been drinking and was trying to bake a cake, and she failed.
