Well, I've been playing racing games for the longest and I'm generally a quick learner, so I end up understanding, at least in a theoretical level, a lot of the physics and mechanics in a racing game. That and that the physics of NFSHP 2010 in particular are beautiful. I haven't seen a game so consistent with itself in my 15 years playing racing games. And even if it's an arcade racer, everything about a car counts towards how effective it is. Power, drive, measures, transmission, weight, weight distribution, aero. Everything.
This is a very long-winded way to say that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport sucks donkey nuts. I don't care it has 1001hp, it's just way too heavy to be effective. And the Koeniggsegg CCXR is much lighter and has 1018hp, so there's that.
And then there's the McLaren F1 which is
even lighter and has a shorter gearing, so even with "only" 636hp it ends up being faster than the two of those as soon as you're racing a road and not a highway.
On other news, I hit up the save editor for BL2 to clone my absolutely ridiculous Mechromancer (
Her name's Penn) and give her perfectly parted guns and a Twister for solo play. Why oh why. People disintegrate as I walk by, provided I've fought through enough of them. Playing in OP8 makes it that much impressive.
Oh, and shock Norfleet. Yaaaay.
EDIT: Wow, I just noticed I haven't written an ode to the 'fleet yet.
P* Norfleet. Blows Up Everything!!! - Throws 3 doomsday balls in a horizontal spread by the cost of three rockets.
The P* is because all prefixes for Maliwan Rocket Launchers (and all titles except Norfleet and Hive) start with P. The whole idea behind the Norfleet is that it's the reward for killing one of two raid bosses, be it Vermivorous the Invincible, which is not a fixed spawn and it's hidden (Health Value: Way too much) or Hyperius the Invincible, who spawns after you finish the Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty DLC on the Washburne Refinery (Health Value: Way too much x12). Its mechanics are similar to those of other E-Tech rockets except for the bandit PRAZMA CANON - It shoots pure energy balls that travel at a slow speed and on impact create a MASSIVE AoE splash and a cataclysmic cycle to catch a mad decent amount of enemies. The thing is, the Vladof Topneaa has a very low base damage (although it only uses 2/3 of a rocket per shot and has a RoF of about 3), the Maliwan PBFG still has low base damage and is heavily dependent on correct element usage (and uses 2 rockets per shot) and the Tediore Launcher is trash like all Tediore rockets. The Norfleet, however, by the cost of 3 ammo throws not one but three of those doomsday balls, and with a sizable damage increase to boot (Comparison at level OP8: Topneaa - 3.7M. PBFG - <7M. Norfleet: 3x10M). It also sports a blast radius the size of Pandora itself and all the splash damage bonuses you can imagine.
Here comes the fun part. The only thing they did in terms of balancing with that is that projectiles swerve, making it theoretically impossible to get any type of direct hit damage on enemies. But they also designed a shield that absorbs shots, as I've mentioned on a very early post. The result of using both is the combo that's regarded as "Shamfleet", which is stupidly overpowered on every character and even more so as Gaige - You don't care about not hitting stuff if they're getting blown the fuck up by the seams regardless. The Sham would also limit its ammo usage which generally means you only get 11 shots out of it.
Why am I happy that it's precisely shock? Gaige was designed with the personality and skillset of a walking Tesla coil, so that means I have a sizable shock damage boost. Some people find that useless, but shock is the only element that works against every enemy that's not explicitly charged with electric damage, be it an ION loader or shock elemental enemies. Exception to this rule is Assassin Wot, who is a major scrub anyways so it doesn't even matter. Shock Norfleet means ded pplz. Specially since the damage output of both the Norfleet and Anarchy means that, at some point, it don't give a fuck bout cho feelngs, regardless of elemental weaknesses or strengths.
It has been proven that nothing can match the sheer damage output of a fully stacked Gaige running around with a Norfleet.
Although technically I don't really use it because it cheapens the game to ridiculous levels. But I have it, and it's so beautiful.
