I doubt it, Jeph isn't really the kind of writer who sets up a story like this and not have some sort of dramatic pay off. Considering as well that Dora is cutting Sven out of her life, which as I understand it, is just a step below completely disowning him and Angus going for the most important interview in his life (so far), there's just too many people in this who could get hurt to end up with a Pintsize gag at the end.
Jeph tends to go for the slow pay-off with these stories, even the lighter stories (like Hanners' dad's birthday). But this is certainly gearing up to be a major storyline and it most certainly feels like something is going to change.

I can speak from experience* that the easiest part would be to change the gender on your driver's license.
